1/ Viv Richards at the MCG in a ODI in the early '80s. 153 not.

2/ Kim Hughes at the MCG in a test match V WI in '83. 100 not from a total of 198 all out.

3/ Majid Khan at the MCG in teast match in the late '70s. 98 in a session.

4/ Alan Border cant remember how many he made but that innings V England where he singlehandedly almost batted us over the line in '82, I saw every ball of that innings.

5/ Matthew Elliotts double ton in the Shield final in 2003. He was like a thrashing machine.

I saw acouple of those too. That one of Viv's, Hoggy bounced him & hit his jaw. Viv gave it a good rub & faced up to the next ball. Another bouncer, hooked about 15 rows back. Hoggy bowled 6 overs & had figures of 0-59 that day.

The innings with Kim Hughes was even more special as Dennis Lilliee ripped throught the Windies top order, culminating with his last ball of the day dismissal of Viv Richards. The crowd was still chanting Lillee's name 20 minutes after stumps.

I'm not sure if I've got the right innings, but Viv hit Carl Rackemann straight back over his head into the top tier of the members stand and someone in front of me called out "well bowled, Bananahead"

I also saw Viv make 200 in a Supertest at Waverley - the first cricket match my dad ever took me to.

Mark Waugh making 150 v SA in a 1-dayer in the late 90's.

One's I didn't see live - Dean Jones at Madras and VVS Laxman's 281 in 2001 (was listening to it on the radio while I was painting my loungeroom).

I recently saw Greg Chappell's first test innings @ Perth in '72 on ABC2. Was on about 16 at tea and got out for 108 1/2 hour before stumps.

Isn't cricket amazing the way we all include innings scored against Australia? In no other sport do you appreciate the artistry of your opponents as much as cricket.

One of the best innings I saw was on TV. It was the in/famous 1981Headingley Ashes Test where England were forced to follow on.

Ian Botham scored 149* & was aided by #10 bat, Graham Dilley who brought up a half century. Botham swept ray Bright for 6 to bring up his ton.

Willis then routed Australia with 8/43 as England won by 18 runs after being forced to follow on.

This was the test that Lillee & Marsh took the 500-1 odds on an unlikely England win.
