He really looks an impressive cricketer. He's smart in the field, more than handy with the ball and if he can get a bit more consistent with the bat I could see him slotting into the Australian team on a regular basis. He has all the shots but it might come down to just his shot selection.
Anyone else had a chance to see much of him?

Only seen him on TV, does look a good player. Saw him play his first 1-day match where he scored a 100 off something like 60 odd balls vs NSW a few years back.

I would have thought there are a couple of middle order batsman (Victorian's too) ahead of him in the queue, but the national selectors seem pretty keen to fast track him into the national team.

The way the media keep mentioing Voges I'd say that they know he is already on a very short list. He would need a good start to the season though to keep his name in the spotlight.

His innings of the fastest ever one-day domestic hundred was a sensational innings. Consistency is important though too.

His batting hasnt been flash in the last couple of weeks although he did recently make a 50. I think he has slipped back to the field

Agreed.

Who else will be battling for Hayden's spot is a season or two?

Voges bats middle order anyway.

Rogers will open the batting with Jacques once Hayden retires.

Are we a bit light on for quality openers at the moment? The fact that we were considering M Hussey is not a great sign.
