For all you blokes struggling to run into some early season form this might cheers you up.
Anyone remember Glen Trimble's effort in a one day match for Australia?
The poor sod was a batsman who bowled a bit and from memory it was a very awkward style. Anyway he got taken apart with his bowling and kept bowling wides. I think we used him as a first change bowler and he had little or no protection when he actually landed one on the pitch.
I'll swear to this day the umpire went "wide" to the first ball "wide" to the second and then "wider" to the third.
I found this about him
Glenn Trimble – Son of Sam.
If Trimble had played with just a small iota of the ability of his father, Sam Trimble, Glen would not have made this team.
Glen Trimble never got past the lofty heights of his One Day International selection, but it was a cracker of a performance. He averaged 4.0 with the bat – a snick through slips - and bowled 4 overs for 32 runs. So wide and full, the umpire finally felt sorry for him and stopped calling them
I remember Glen Trimble's mighty one-day debut. He almost took Geoff Howarth's head off with a beamer. I remember Allan Border talking through every ball with him just to get through the over.
