Raced to the game after cricket last night. Pretty dissapointed we couldn't get a win.
Saw some pretty ugly scenes after the game. No excuse for that stuff going on. I have often heard some soccer fans complain of biased reporting claiming that bad things happen at the cricket and are not given the same negative press that the soccer recieves. Well from what I saw last night that is absolute rubbish. Never been to a cricket game and seen flares and chairs thrown at each other from point blank range. What were the police thinking putting the sydney fans in that function room? Good idea to seperate them but putting them out on a balcony with all the departing victory fans walking past them is a recipe for disaster. Did anyone else see all of this unfold?

What happened exactly?Cant comment on what happened before or during the game but I saw pretty much everything that happened after the game.
Sensing the hostility between the two camps the police ushered the Sydney fans into a dining room or something while the victory fans departed. The room had a big concrete balcony/concourse which juts out over the lower concourse that patrons have to walk around to leave the stadium area. The two teams fans inevitably started baiting each other as the victory fans walked past and then the Sydney fans started throwing the plastic chairs down into the departing crowd. Both sides threw multiple flares at each other and a Sydney guy was on a stretcher with paramedics around him when I last saw. One flare from the Sydney guys over shot the lower concourse and landed on a passing car about 40 metres below. The police came out in riot formation and started using the capsicum spray. Cant believe the police put them in that spot.

I instantly started thinking about the French guy in Monty Python's Holy Grail.
