Am i the only one surprised that we haven't shown interest in Simon Godfrey. He is only 26and could contribute to our list immediately. Remember how frustrated Adam Goodes was when he was tagged by Simon (he hit him and was extremely lucky not to be suspended). We lack a tagger and Sam Power was the only player who looked capable of tagging. Godfrey would be a good backup if we missed out on Welsh but i am hoping we could rookie him although i doubt it would happen. What do you think?

The knock on him has always been his disposal, which is pretty awful.
He's also not overly quick.
It seems as though the day of the purely negative tagger is gone. You need to be able to hurt the opposition the other way too, which he doesn't. I admit he's good at what he does, Westy also gave him one behind the play the first time we played them this year (nothing serious, just a little dig in the guts from frustration) but I think his days are probably done at AFL level.
I don't think he'd be eligible to rookie at that age with that number of games.

That's the rub. Clayton rarely takes a player with poor disposal, unless they are a serious athletic freak taken as a project.
West hinted he may actually tag this year, Boyd can do + win his own ball, and Addision or Tim Callan look like they could also have tagging roles to play depending on whether they can get senior game time.

West and Boyd create so much in the midfield and i wouldn't want to lose more drive than what we already get. I wold be more comfortable with one of them tagging if say Griff became really good in the clearances. Don't know if Addison or Callan could run with the extremely hard runners but i don't really know what they're capable of

If adding a Melbourne reject midfielder to the list brings us closer to a flag, why not? Otherwise NO!

It seems that Godfrey may miss out all together with all clubs overlooking him, which will be a bitter result for him
