Seems like a compromise between day & night which will probably appease very few, particularly Channel 9.

When 'Ross the Boss' was head honcho of the AFL he advocated a night Grand Final, tho that was more to appease his fireworks fetish.

Nothing beats a Day Grand Final for me. Night Finals are purely a broadcasting exercise.

The only reason its a 5 o'clock start is because the NRL board didn't have the grapefruits to make a decision either way and risk pissing someone off.
