WESTERN Bulldog recruit Easton Wood has gone to the top of the class, achieving a VCE ENTER score of 97.75 in his final year at Geelong Grammar.
Wood, 18, was taken at pick 43 by the Bulldogs in this year's National Draft.
Originally from Camperdown, Wood has been described as a power athlete and, at 184cm and 82kg, is expected to fill a role in the midfield.
Wood studied chemistry, English, further mathematics, history, geography and physical education and, apart from his football ambitions, hopes to study physiotherapy.
``Hopefully I will be able to negotiate something with the club and I can study in the long-term, do a number of subjects but not have it interfere with my football,'' the Bulldog draftee said.
``It's great to have another interest outside the game.''
Fellow Geelong Grammar student and close friend Guy O'Keefe was also picked up by the Bulldogs, and Wood said it had helped having a mate around during his introduction to AFL ranks.
``The guys are great, they are a really open group,'' he said.nts we get really well looked after and it's been thoroughly enjoyable,'' Wood said of his first weeks at Whitten Oval.
The young Bulldog described himself as a development player with a long term future, and to play senior football in his first season would be a bonus.
