17 overs? 28 for Johnson, 24 for Lee?

Clark is efficient, economical and takes wickets. Why wont he bowl him?

i thikn the gap was just exaggerated because we like to use him first change and the opening bowlers got two shots.

Clark would have caught up if we bowled longer but i think Ponting waits to use Clark as his emergency option if everything stuffs up with Johnson/Lee before he gives him a bowl

I would have given him the new ball from the get go last night with Lee. From his first ball he hits the spot, every time.

I'm a massive wrap for Clarke. He's very McGrath like in his line, length, accuracy and ability to move the ball just enough to fool a batsman. Along with Lee who's become a much better bowler than I ever thought he'd ever be we have 2 very good bowlers.
Johnson is performing ok at the moment although i'm not sold on him long term.
I hope for Tait's sake that he's struggling with an injury because he was rubbish in the first innings.
We don't have a test quality spinner apart from MacGill, but he's possibly close to finished.

Clark is probably the most reliable bowler in world cricket at the minute. If Johnson isn't swinging it then Clark should probably get the new nut. Clark can easily bowl well later on but the hard seam would assist his nagging line and he always makes the batsmen play. Cleaned up SA with the new ball a while ago.

Underbowled again yesterday.

Kerry O'Keefe was pretty harsh with his criticism of Ponting under-bowling Clark once again after yesterday's play. I know KOK isn't the most reputable commentator out there, but he was spot on with this assessment.

FFS Punter when we are struggling bowl Clark into the ground.

Yep. I am getting really annoyed with this...Maybe Clark has an injury that only team 'insiders' know about?

30 overs to Lee's 36. Not a big deal. First time he has gone wicketless in an innings.

30 - 36 by the end. Fine. What were the numbers at the end of day 1. Besides which, it was more Johnson I was comparing him too.

When you bowl for 2 straight days, it is all going to even out until it is 'not a big deal'...you just basically need warm bodies after 120 overs or so. It still seems to me that in the first 50-80 overs, Clark is underbowled and I think it is a mistable.

Clark is a solid bowler but he isn't regarded as being a big wicket taker so he needs someone down the other end capable of getting wickets. Johnson gets wickets but doesn't apply pressure so Clark would be the guy I would get to open the bowling with Lee.

He probably should have bowled 6 overs more than Johnson

Well Johnson was bowling well so i would want to bowl him to.

Clark didn't really bowl that well either.

It has been a problem in the other tests however.
