For me one of the years great sporting events starts Friday morning (Aus time).

For the best part of 25 years I have been waking up at 5am to watch the action and have never been to school or work before the final shot has been played. For as great as the Aussies have been on the world stage no Australian has ever won this prestigious tournament, but we have been close, bloody close.

The Shark was close on many occassions, but is best remembered for his meltdown in 96 when he let slip a 5 shot lead with 10 holes to play. Besides the 97 PF that we threw away this 'choke' (I hate that word) was one of my worst moments as a sport/ Norman lover. I was bloody heartbroken.

Anyway enough of the depressing shit..

Tiger is the hot favourite to win this year, his form over the past 6 to 8 has been nothing short of outstanding. If he plays to form no-one will get within 5 shots of him.

Of the rest a couple of Aussies should be thereabouts. Geoff Ogilvy has really found some excellent form over the past month and played quite well there last year. Adam Scott is also in good touch and has the game to play well at Augusta.

Anyone else watch this great event?

Adam Scott made an interesting remark in a press conference yesterday.

Said that "a couple under par" might be enough to win, the conditions will be that tricky.

Augusta always seems to sort the best from the rest.
