Haddin apparently has a broken finger and Luke Ronchi has been flown in on standby for him.
I don't think Ronchi is a great keeper at all and probably better suited to the limited over games but it does highlight our lack of depth for keepers to go along with the spinners.
One positive that might come out of this is giving Ronchi a bit of exposure and perhaps he should be used as the keeper for the limited over games anyway.
Thoughts?

Battled with Gilly for the quickest hundred in Aus for a while so he knows how to whack it. Don't think he'd be a great test batsman.
Could be a pure batsman in the ODI's as he's supposed to be a good fielder

Ronchi? WTF?
Surely there's someone playing grade cricket in Sydney they could bring in?
What about giving Doug Bollinger a go as a keeper?

Seems when looking for keepers after Gilchrist came on the scene we are looking at back stops who can smash quick scores rather than genuine keepers. Haddin is a bit of an exception as he is actually a technically sound keeper, but still a slogger. There is just such a huge emphasis on this over the past few years, players like Boucher coming on the scene and smacking them. Ronchi looks ok, hits the ball a long way but is a below par keeper IMO, still he's only young.

Not that young at 27. Though it's not too old since there's only ever one keeper.
Haddin may be a "slogger" but he has scored more runs than most batsmen in domestic cricket over the past few years.

27? Must admit I thought he was only 24-25 tops.
