I think the Nets come out of this one the best. Lopez was a steal at 10 and the Jefferson/Yi trade gives them more youth, which will make them real contenders in a few years. The Bayless/Rush deal was a great one for Portland. Any thoughts?

Oh and I think Jawai got his rights traded to Toronto.

Jawai was traded. May still play in Aus but be contracted to Torronto

This years draft is not far off, and it looks like Kyrie Irving will get the number 1 spot.
Just wondering if anyone else is gutted he probably wont be in the Boomers gear anytime in his career?
Unless FIBA bends the rules and team USA agree, I doubt there will ever be a Olyimpic squad with a Mills, Irving back court. I'm pretty sure that wont happen (unless he turns out to be a dud).

Why couldn't he play? Bogut found ways to play for the Boomers as did Longley

He played for Team USA last year in some capacity?
FIBA rules, I believe, state once a player has played a FIBA game for a country over the age of 17, he cannot play for any other team. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

OK well he would have known that would limit his chances of playing for the Boomers so we have to accept that. Doesn't appear to have been the smartest move because he just isn't going to be a great player anyway.

No, "OK". I seriously am not sure if what I said is correct.

Big call.
I don't see him being the next LeBron or Rose. But I'm sure he'd have the tallent to represent his country one day.

He could have no doubt represented Australia but he will struggle to get a regular game for the US.

How much of his life did he spend in Australia?

F'All.
Was born here and moved back as a child.
But still would have been good to see him and Mills line up at an Olyimpics.

He has dual citizenship and has apparently expressed interest in representing Australia.

Yeah. He does recognise his Australian citizenship. The problem is whether it's too late or not??

It's too late and he will most likely never play for the US. He played under Coach K @ college and got the call up for the last tournament to tie him to the US just in case.

Perhaps he still has the desire?

realising that he is a long way behind CP3, Deron, Rondo and Rose.

If we can get a PG good enough to start in the NBA, that will be a massive kick along for the Boomers.
Safe to say that's never happened before. I'm tipping he's slightly more athletic than Phil Smyth

yeah that would be fantastic obviously.

haha perhaps just slightly.

Ater Majok got picked up by the Lakers 2nd rnd, pick #58.
Probably doesn't deserve it after pissing on UConn and throwing in what would have been a starting role in a NCAA championship.
Doubt he'll see the Staples centre.
Hope he proves me wrong however.

Surprised we didn't go for an SG, especially Brooks.

But i guess they are wanting to leave room in the cap with the lockout looming.

Just realised Brooks was gone anyway, so the trade up for Mirotic could turn out a great move.

Too bad we have to wait a while.

All the talk about Irving getting selected at #1, well done to Ater Majok for at least getting a look in at pick 58.

I know my above comment is rather harsh. I am happy for him people are interested.
I am just a bit peeved that he decided to walk away from a UConn scholarship. This is something any young basketball player would give their left nut for and he decided to chase cash well well well before he was developed. As it turned out, UConn 2011 NCAA Champs and the basketball programe that would have been drilled into him would have been invaluable.

Sorry. didn't realise you had posted that.

Actually agree with you, unless you are high end talent, a college program is very valuable to any basketball player.

I read somewhere that LA were going to "Leave him overseas to develop".
I'm guessing what they have drafted is the rights to sign him if he has a breakout year in the next two years?????

A lot of clubs do that & with the lockout looming, i think it's a smart move from LA.
