What were your Olympic highlights?
I really enjoyed the women's 200 x 4 freestyle relay. I don't know if it's just me, but I really do like to see the Yanks get knocked off in the relays.
Hard to go past Usain Bolt in the 100 & 200 metre sprints.
I also enjoyed the emotion shown by the German weightlifter who had tragically lost his wife in a car accident 12 months ago. When he accepted his Gold Medal he carried a photo of her with him.
Michael Phelps is exceptional, just an elite athlete.
I could go on for ever, but I'll leave plenty for others.

Matthais Steiner.... The highlight of the Olympics for me.
Other highlights were:
1. Usain Bolt - Absolute freak.
2. Kenenisa Bekele - Amazing athelete, his wins in the 5K & 10K were brilliant.
3. Steve Hooker's win in the pole vault was the stuff of fairytales, last jump and all..

She didn't even compete.
Would have thought that you would add John Steffenson to that list going by your criteria.
His run in the 4x400m was appalling.

Mine has to be Sally McLellan, the interview after she got a silver medal was jsut gold, it was just such a natural interview and i wish we saw more of that.
Took more notice of her because i could say she was my cousin, McLellan is my mums maiden name.
Emma Snowsill is another one.
Anna Meares... well it was jsut unbelieveable she even made it to the olympics, to come out of it with a silver medal jsut shows what an amazing person she is.
And that aussie diver, Matthew Mitcham to get the gold medal when it looked all ovedr and he was to get silver, to come out and produse the dive he did was... well as Bruce would say it was special.

Jana Pittman not competing was a highlight, no in fighting, sooking, and telling us she shouldnt have to race, just give her the gold.
Fairdinkum has a bigger ego than the USA basketball team.
Behind closed doors I wouldnt be surprised if the Aussie team were relieved she didnt compete.

Closing ceremony.
These Olympics just didn't do it for me.
Sydney and Melbourne (Comm games) had tens if not hundreds of 'refugees' running away from camp and staying outside of visas. As an aside, i wonder how many did that this Olympics...

Pittman not being there is why it was a lowlight. For me even more so when you see what Meares overcame to be there.
Steffenson, although disappointing probably due to injury, at least was there and had a go. Probably would have been in my top 10 lowlights.

Add Steve Hooker, Steph Rice, Matthew Mitcham and Sally McLennan to that list and that pretty much sums it up for me.
I didn't think I'd get into these Olympics as much as I did, but there were so many great stories to follow, it was wonderful.

The end of it all.
Really enjoying watching our hard earned taxes at work paying for people partying in the Bejing nightclubs.
I went to work today feeling so much better that we won 14 gold medals. It made a real difference.

Didnt watch that much of the olympics, i watched plenty of animation on fox 8 though :)
But Friday night i was at crown (after the doggies win vs essendon) and everyone cheered as the Pole Vaulter dude won..that was pretty exciting stuff.
Freakiest thing though would of been that Weightlifter who snapped his arm out of place, messy stuff..if your into sick stuff and wanna see that - pm me and ill find you the link to the video

I also found the highlight of the last 2 weeks on Fox8 when they showed the Simpsons version of the Green Mile.

Him not running well was great. This guy is an A grade tosser. To talk himself up the way he does after he has accomplished sweet FA really irritates me. The funniest thing I heard before the olympics was when he was trying to tell everyone he practically had the 400 metre gold medal won (I know he didn't run the individual event in the end) over the american. Steffenson had never run within 2 seconds of Warriners best time!! Nothing wrong with confidence but at least be a realist. WANKER.
