With Bryce McGain being sent home from the tour of India because of injury the selectors have called on Cameron White rather than Beau Casson as his replacement. I wonder if White will bat at 6 and partner Krejza with his spinners?

I think we definately need to play 5 bowlers on this tour, we're going to spend a lot of time fielding.

I reckon they are just going to play the 3 quicks and bat White at 8. Cant wait for it to start no matter which way they go. White is not a front line bowling option but he will be more effective in India than any of our other spinners.

I suppose that means Watson would the extra bowler that we would need?

The problem with a player like White is if you bat him at 8, when he is better suited to a 5 or 6, they have a tendency to bat like a number 8.

My preference would be to bat him at 6 as the 5th bowler supporting Krejza and the 3 quicks.

I also think he will bowl better in Indian conditions than Krejza will. Watson is a genuine top 6 batsmen IMO and he has to play with Symonds not there.

Personally I would play 4 quicks but if they are going to go with White or Krejza to support the 3 quicks and Watson then I would go with White. The only thing worse than no spinner is a spinner that is not up to it.

We'll be getting smashed the way things are going. Krezja and White are far from test quality. Especially as spinners against India

I rarely listen to SEN but went there today to hear the trade news and a Bulldog fan rang up saying India can have the Bulldogs Cameron Wight for nothing. Of course pea brain Harford missed the joke.

And Warne had such a great record in India didn't he?

Doesn't matter if your the world's best or world's worst spin bowler the Indians will still smash you all over the park.

The difference between winning and losing will be if our bats can make some runs and if our quicks can pick up wickets with the new ball.

If the ACB still had Cameron Falloon we could have asked for him back in exchange.

And make the old ball swing Irish. It's Tendulkar's only weakness that I've seen.

Try doing that in India. The wickets over there tear the ball to pieces.

I never saw Warne in India though i am aware of his record. While not great his bowling average in India will be 50 runs better than that of White and Krezja based on Krezja's performances so far and White's general bowling.

We also had 3 experienced pace bowlers. None of the 3 we have have played a test in India before.

We also had a Gilchrist in his prime.

It wouldn't be too surprising if we won being Australia and everything but we could barely compete with the president's eleven which is a horrible sign.

Exactly, that's how reverse swing was discovered on the sub-continent.

The wickets in India are far more abrasive than those in Pakistan meaning it's hard to keep a shine on either side of the ball, but from the look of the wicket for the 1st test we may not see a ball get off a straight line.

C'mon Cain. There's always extra 'work' you can do on a ball.

I'd prefer to think of it as 'Indian'
