Contract extension: Lindsay Gilbee has signed a two-year deal with the Bulldogs that will secure him to the club until 2010.
Unable to break into Peter Rohde's side in 2004, he asked to be traded to interested parties Richmond or Sydney and was offered a three-year deal by the Swans. Told by new coach Rodney Eade he was a required player, he has flourished and was last year named an All-Australian and toured with the International Rules side.
Gilbee said yesterday he was ecstatic and was determined to win team success.
"I was out of contract at the end of next year, and they added '09 and '10 to my contract, which I am rapt about," he said.
"This is the club I want to be at. We have done the hard yards early in my career and we really want to bear the fruits of that. We have had a lot of hard times, but now we can see the light at the end of the tunnel."
