Whilst tavelling through South America we managed to be in Quito for the Ecuador v Argentina yesterday.......absolutely wonderful atmosphere and thoroghly recommend that if you end up in Sth America make sure you get to a game!

2 second half goals sealed it for Ecuador who courtesy of Uruguay drawing with Venezuela have moved into 2nd spot. Ecuadorīs last 2 games are against Columbia and Uruguay. They were really unpressive last night and play a beautiful passing game with a lot of flair. Argentina on the other hand looked lacklustre and were almost playing for a draw, with Tevez missing a very dodgy penalty. Messi looked dangerous early, but faded and as the game progressed. Big congrats to the Ecuador keeper for saving the penalty and pulling off an unbelievable double save with the scores at 0-0. Ater that though it was all Ecuador!

Sounds like an awesome experience.

My cousin spent about 12 months in Sth America a couple of years back and went to a few games in Brasil. He said the atmosphere was amazing.

I donīt think altitude played a huge part in the result. Quito is at about 2,700m. La Paz, where Argentina lost 6-1 to Bolivia a few months ago is at around the 3,500m. There was a massive storm before the game and it bucketed down about an hour before, but the pitch was still pretty good. I really just think that Argentina are not that good. Aside from Messi and Tevez up front they looked slow and showed none of the crisp passing you would expect. Ecuador wanted the game more!
