: Rookie Watch - HENRY WHITE
sportMessenger News20 Aug 09 @ 07:40am by Reece Homfray
FORMER North Adelaide running machine Henry White is hopeful of remaining on the Western Bulldogs’ list next season after spending 2009 in the VFL.

White was rookie-listed from the Roosters in 2007 and managed two NAB Cup games last summer.

But an up-and-down year in 2009 has seen him float between Williamstown’s senior and reserves sides.

``I started really well, but then tapered off a bit in the middle,’’ he said.

``I went to the VFL Reserves for a while but I’ve been back in the seniors the last couple of weeks and we’re top of the table.’’

White has been used on the wing and across half back since arriving in Melbourne two years ago and says he’s settled in nicely.

``I’m really happy,’’ he said.

``Hopefully they’re just as happy with me.

``Every week we sit down and the coaches are completely honest. If it’s positive they say so and if it’s negative they do as well.

``I definitely feel as if I belong and I think I’ve made steady improvement.’’

The dashing wingman - who won the beep test at the state screening in 2007 - has added 12kg to his frame and says he’s fitter than he’s ever been since being rookie listed. But it’s still not enough to catch the top blokes at the club.

``Over middle distances I’m right up there,’’ he said.

``But it’s been a real eye-opener to see how hard you have to run. The Daniel Cross’s - they just run all day.’’

Obviously hasn't been given marching orders yet, but hasn't been given any signs of him being a required player either.

Obviously hasn't been given marching orders yet, but hasn't been given any signs of him being a required player either.

He's one of the first players moved into the senior side though. I think we could do worse than having him at the club again and it would be nice to have him at the club for another season. I could probably say that about all the rookies though.
