This link should work OK!
Let me know if it doesn't work and I'll try something else.
Works OK for me.

I agree Sockeye. I was on that wing and don't think the tv captured the kick that well.
btw what did people think of Eagleton's decision to pull out of the contest? Didn't look good imo, but generally he does show courage under the high ball. He might have been called out of it by Darcy, though in the end Eagle was probably the only one that could have marked it. My friend thought Eagle was pretty lucky that Darcy went on and kicked the goal.

The first time I saw it I wasnt impressed and thought some uncomplimentry things about Eagle, but the more I watch it the more I think he was told to get out of the way by Darce.

If you take a close look, Eagles pulls out of the way but also bumps Gasper which puts Darcy into a clear position to grab the ball and kick the goal. It looks to me Darcy called out to him, otherwise it would have been a mess.

Thanks for that, it was a great piece of play and shows us a glimpse of what is to come in the future.

Yep, if anything good combined vision by the 2 players to quickly work out what to do in the situation. I thought Eagle could've marked it too.

I was concerned at the time as it didn't look good but watching it again I can see thatEagle is clearly called out, he even starts to put his arms up to shepherd out anyone following him.
Back to Williams... some good stuff in that clip. He reads the ball best. Is sure handed below his knees, twice kicks accurately and well, and keeps going to link up. Very good ticks for a few of the basics.

I wonder if Williams is going to be one of those frustrating types who does a number of brilliant things and then gives up an easy goal through an undisciplined act? I think onces he settles into what the game is all about he could be an excellent defender for us but it will take time.

He was probably as worried about getting in Darcys way and stuffing up a scoring opportunity as he was about the physical contact but I still think he had to go. I love listening to recent AFL coaches when they are doing special comments and Grant Thomas is good to listen to because he is brutally honest and doesn't dress up his opinions. He was pretty scathing of Eagleton in that incident. Didn't rate Thomas that highly as a coach but it was obvious when he was coaching that he demanded a pretty high level of commitment at the ball. I wonder what Eade is like with these matters?

I think Eade is fairly red hot on these as well. I think Griffen was dropped early on partly because of his failure to committment to a marking contest and Eade was public in his criticism. Eagle does generally show good courage, but I agree that he had to go for this one.
The two things I most respected about Thomas as his motivational ability and his emphasis on going hard at the ball. The Saints were pretty awesome and great to watch during the early part of 2004. The fact they couldn't keep up this intensity for the whole season shows how difficult it is to play at v high intensity imo (in fact I don't reckon they ever really got that intensity back).

I think Williams is starting to learn what the game is all about but still has plenty to learn.
Do you think he will stay at the CHB position, or where do you think is his best position for us.

He will primarily be a defender but if he keeps improving he can play as a key forward somewhere down the track.

IIRC I read somewhere that Eade said he was recruited as a power forward.
Who knows?

thats why I asked the question. Personally I like him in the back line, along with Harris and Everitt, could be a great line up in years to come.

IMHO continues to impress. Sure he dropped a few sitters, but otherwise really looks AFL standard. I'm surprised by his pretty good positioning and good field kicking.

His field kicking has been pleasing. His hands need a lot of work, both marking and handpassing, but that will come.

Williams also allows Hargraves to play on a midsized/smaller opponent which I think gives us better balance and flexibility

Like a couple of other have mentioned, Williams makes a few mistakes but shouldn't be in any danger in being dropped because he does provide us with a number of options. Last night was probably his worst game for us but he's still going along OK.

Yes he made a couple of mistakes but generally he still played well. One thing, he is preapred to take them on and does take a risk every now and then. His kicking is great to watch but as McMahon23 says his not confident with his hands. I am so pleased we have him, we have been looking for a decent size CHB since Peter Foster retired (and he wasn't tall but was solid).

If he had sure hands, he would have played a super game.
