THE Western Bulldogs are likely to turn to a debutant, Malcolm Lynch, to help cover the loss of midfielders Ryan Griffen and Daniel Cross, who will be sidelined for up to two months with knee injuries sustained in the match against the Brisbane Lions last Saturday night.
Scans confirmed a grade-three strain of the medial ligament in Cross' left knee while Griffen was found to have a grade-two strain of the medial ligament in his left knee, but surgery was deemed necessary for Griffen to tighten ligaments that were stretched, as he had also dislocated his kneecap.
"He's (Griffen) young, with a lot of football ahead of him. It was the right thing to do," Bulldogs coach Rodney Eade said.
Eade suggested that after a week in the VFL, Jordan McMahon almost certainly would return to the senior side. It is also believed that strong consideration is being given to the selection of Lynch or another first-year player, Andrejs Everitt, for the match in Darwin against Fremantle on Saturday night. "Both are certainly in consideration," Eade said.
Former captain Chris Grant is expected to play two more matches in the VFL after playing his first game for season 2007 when he turned out for the Werribee Tigers last weekend. He is hoping to be back for the Bulldogs clash with the Kangaroos on July 1.

Interesting. What do you think are the realistic chances of Lynch getting a game this week?

I'd be surprised but he is obviously in the mix. Everitt should be considered.
