Re: Membership 2017 - Target 50,000
Saw on FB that someone asked for a membership update on twitter and got a response- 34,147.
Would think we will easily beat the record. Anyone know how we were tracking at the same time last year?

Looking at last years thread we were 25,086 on the 9th of Feb 2016
Here are some comments from the club on that day
The current tally of 25,086 sees the Club tracking nearly two months ahead of last year.
It wasn’t until March 26 last year that the club surpassed the 25,000 member mark.
On the 21/3/16 we had 29,580 members so we are substantially ahead. We had something like 10,000 members join after the season started which might have been helped by our strong performances early in the season.
The question in comparison to the last 2 years I think is around how many new members do we have or have a lot more members just paid their members early? I suspect it's a combination of the two but another strong start with early wins will keep things ticking over.

Add in Ballarat memberships too. They're not full memberships, but if they sell out that'll inflate the figure. Good times for our club.

Good point, have you heard anything on how that is going?
Does there seem to a even a bit of a Western Bulldogs acknowledgement in the town?

$75.
Re: Membership 2017 - Target 50,000
That's why three game memberships were 55 dollars a couple of years ago and then they give them away to everyone.
Re: Membership 2017 - Target 50,000
Rang the club today and got told we are at 36,800 members, many have not been processed and issued as yet. Membership Department is expecting high 40s with 50k definitely a possibility. They stated 36.8 is an estimate and that this is conservative. They're still flat out...

I think high 40's is very likely and with a strong start 50k is a chance. With those sorts of numbers it's a massive turnaround for us.
The days of journalists writing that we are a poor struggling club should never be talked about again.

As far as the Melbourne clubs go we will leapfrog Melbourne and the Saints and probably Norf as well.

It's like we are running down the straight of a never ending Melbourne cup. We've currently pulled a few lengths clear but the finishing post only appears when your club has a run of a few 50000+ memberships in a row.
Re: Membership 2017 - Target 50,000
I'm not too fussed with what is happening with other Melbourne based clubs because all clubs have their own challenges.
After our breakout season if we can establish ourselves as a strong finals entrenched club over the next few seasons our membership numbers will stay at a healthy level and even grow stronger.
I'm very hopeful that a new stadium deal won't make us as dependent on growing our membership base each year.
