Re: The Moving Rolling De-Listing/Trading Thread 2016
If Carlton trade Gibbs & Tuohy, I wonder if they'll go a little harder at Hrovat and maybe even try to grab Koby Stevens as a mature inside player. Hopefully, some competition may drive the prices up.

Likewise, I think that they would prefer NOT to lose Marchbank but it is becoming inevitable that one of he and Tomlinson (and maybe both) are going to go. Likewise I think they are going to lose Stewart having already lost Boyd and McCarthy - that is a lot of key position players walking out as well.
You can't keep them all because you can't play them all and you can't pay them all.
The challenge they have is keeping the 'RIGHT' ones. They have clearly bet on Shiel ahead of Treloar so let's see how that turns out.
They're list is the strongest in the competition by a fair margin in my opinion. They can't keep them all and perhaps surplus to needs is not the right word, but when you've got the talent in the wings like they have it's not that far off the mark either. Treloar goes to Collingwood but look at the quality they have that comes in. Whitfield almost gets them into a Grand Final.
They are clearly in the enviable position that they have stockpiled that many quality players that they can afford to lose the likes of McCarthy, Boyd, Treloar et al. and still be a kick from the Grand Final, and they will go deep next year as well. Coupled with that, as discussed earlier they lose quality yet secure quality picks. Losing Treloar netted Collingwood's first round pick last year and this year and ensures GWS maintains the cyclical process. They are able to lose the likes of the above for first round picks but be selective on how they use those picks to shore up all positions across all lines.

I take almost everything on Twitter with a grain of salt. Some anonymous account AFLtradewhisper (6,000 followers) is saying Hamling is staying and KS may want to after the flag, but if he does go St Kilda & Essendon are leading the pack.
Re: The Moving Rolling De-Listing/Trading Thread 2016
I can understand Koby looking for opportunities what I don't get is the Roos not being all over him as he is precisely what they need. The Saints I think are ok more mids and even the Bombers but Nth seem very light on for inside mids.

North struggle more for outside run and class for mine. Their inside players are ok (Zeibell, Swallow, Cunnington) but really lack wingers/flankers of quality, their best players in these areas (Wells, Harvey, Dal Santo) will all be gone next year. Their list management is looking like a trainwreck.
Re: The Moving Rolling De-Listing/Trading Thread 2016
The last thing North need is to trade in more players. They need to hit the draft and hard

Haven't they learnt anything from us?

I thought that might be you.

Could not disagree more I doubt very much that they beat any team in the 8 inside the phone box. I am not a bloke who reads stats so I could be proven wrong but I doubt their hard ball gets are even in the top 8. Also top dog and one eye dog yes they need to hit the draft but they call ill afford to quickly become irrelevant .

They have the capacity to learn?
They probably look down on us as an inferior club and wouldn't want to lower themselves to copying us.

Trading in 1 or 2 older players won't make them relevant though. They are headed for a very very lean period. Seriously they are trash and really just need to go into full on rebuild mode. There is no point in them topping up to come 12th.
Hard ball gets is almost impossible to get stats for. Contested possessions they are 9th for.
Re: The Moving Rolling De-Listing/Trading Thread 2016
I'm not going to be happy if Hrovat leaves for what the media are saying is either 3rd or 4th round.
I would have thought he'd be worth way more to a prospective suitor than Koby Stevens?

Agreed ... Second round pick at least
Re: The Moving Rolling De-Listing/Trading Thread 2016
I think some posters are over rating Hrovats worth. From memeory he was an early second round draft pick. In four years he has only played 30 games. Unfortunately I think the reality is he is now worth a late second round pick at best.

Hrovat was pick 21, and has mostly missed games in the past couple of years due to injury.
Nathan Freeman earned the Pies an early second round pick, after being a first rounder limited by injuries. I would expect a second rounder minimum.
