2 weeks in a row, the second nomination before he has even played, that's impressive! ;)

Looks like a tall skinny version of Rafael Nadal.
Can play

Really? Got on the end of 3 over the top goals early on and then did bugger all.
Must be a weak field.

I agree, not much out there to date.

Hard to get a kick when you are on the pine injured :)

Yep. I said the same to my wife. He looks like a young Rafa

How long was he on the pine for? Like 10-15 min?

Thought the same. Got a few cheapies partly by using his athleticism out the back and because we over-committed our defence early.

You trade enough with GWS, you're bound to get one right. Looks a beauty.

I don't like Carlton, but I like more that this part of the Gryphone trade is no longer at GWS. They could build a decent defence around he and Weitering.

My Carlton mate swears that they took the body blows of Palmer, Pickett and to a lesser extent the guys the year before to end up with Plowman and Marchbank. Both look serious prospects.

No he wasn't. SPS was absolutely spectacular and best on ground by a mile. Carlton have finally landed one.

Re: AFL Rising Star - 2017
Who cares, we could hypothetically have a once in a generation player and lose to an interstate spud. Who he beats by over 300 votes in the AFLPA best first year player award, hypothetically. Or then hypothetically have a kid, the smallest player playing, hypothetically, lead every single stat and still lose out to an interstate player.
All hypothetical. What's fact though is that it's a shit, half arsed award that has has no real relevance other than to give the AFEL another naming rights event for their major sponsor. It has no relevance and I don't care if we never, ever have another nomination because it's more meaningless than being given a phone book.

No, I love your work BAD on this and other threads. This 'award' just has no meaning to me, I vary between being ambivalent about it to ranting about it. Today, rant. Now, nothing to me. Tomorrow, who knows?

I reckon tomorrow will be a non-event. More likely you'll hold fire for another seven days and pull out something from the spectrum.

No you're comments are more than welcome. I think since Taylor was regarded as the Rising Star over Bontempelli I don't think this award is as relevant to many here but I still enjoy seeing the weekly nominations.
Carlton have done well to get 4 nominations which is a good sign they are on the right path

Agree the voting system is a farce, but generally the players nominated are the best for the week. I really thought Williams was very close to getting a nomination earlier in the season, perhaps he still will.
Even though we don't think Taylor should have won, he still is a pretty good player. Personally I think Caleb should have won last year as he was very consistent over the whole season, whereas Mills only played some good games in the second half.

The weekly awards hold more meaning than the end of season.

Good point TD. Weekly winners may only play a few games for the season and generally will not win the award.

That was Honeychurch and his nomination, case in point.

Carlton have 5th nomination with Charlie Curnow for round 16
