He's one of a couple of high profile sports journos who should be the shining example to young journos of how good of an example to set, and get respect from the masses. Robbo going on about Bob's dead grand parents last week is another example of how desperate the industry is for knowledgable, insightful and wonderfully articulate journos. I don't think that's ever going to be Robbo, but Barrett has the potential to, except he doesn't chose to do it. But his choices are his choices, and mine is to ignore him until posts in this thread start to demonstrate a change for the better.
He did what?

He asked Bob what it means to him that his grand parents would be at the game. Bob told him they were not around. Then after a gap he went back and asked about his grand parents watching him as a junior. Bob then had to explain he lost his grand parents when he was very young and had no grand parent influence really.
I get the first question, but after Bob made it clear, why he went back to asking about his grand parents is baffling.

I saw it on an Al's Highlights video on YouTube. It's baffling how Robbo rose to the top, he must be a terrific bloke because he's not that great at his job.

The H/S must have been like the public service was back in the '80s. Depending on who you went to the pub with at lunchtime then you could literally drink your way to the top.

I've become oddly fond of Robbo -- most of the time his heart seems to be in the right place (as far as you can tell), but for someone whose job consists of literally putting one word after another, he is the most incoherent, inarticulate, rambling, bumbling man.

He must have a ghost writer.
Then again most of the great writers and artists would have been pretty frustrating individuals to have actually known personally and put up with on a daily basis.

It's not like the ex rookie listed player with the most games is a particularly big deal. He'd be more spewing with being so close to 300 and maybe being in and out with finals and a shot at another flag on the horizon.
