Our 5 person panel. your view?

The five person panel to find our new coach comprises Bulldogs Football Director and former Club Captain, Chris Grant, (Chair), Chief Executive Simon Garlick, General Manager of Football, Graham Lowe, former Club captain Luke Darcy, and West Coast Eagles premiership captain and coach John Worsfold.

I like him, and and was a warrior for us, but
I'm not really sure about Luke Darcy. Is more of a media guy these days.
How much contact does he have with day to day running of a club?

Happy to have Woosha on board. Thoughts?

That's where he offers a point of difference to the 3 current staff. He's not involved in the day to day at the club and can take a step back and offer a different perspective. No different to Tom Harley on the Macca panel

Woosha, much as I hate the guy, is a fantastic panel member. I'm really happy now, that we have a few more outsiders looking over the appointment. If it was Grant, Garlick and Lowe I would've been very concerned.

I would have liked Bob Murphy to be a part of the panel. The guy bleeds Red, White & Blue, and would only ever do the best thing for the club. He has played under several different styles of coach great strategists in Wallet and Eade, developmental in Macca, so would have a great understanding of the type of person to do the job. He is also media savvy and very intelligent.

Whilst I understand the appointment of a player would open us up to criticism, I think Murph could have offered some invaluable insight.

I would have liked to see another outsider in the committee, Dunstalls name has been mentioned before but it's hard to find someone who is still relevant to football but isn't necessarily aligned to a club. Perhaps a Leigh Matthews or even a terry Wallace could have added some value to the interview process.

Yes I agree, another outsider, independent, who has experienced success, would have been good. Leigh would have been ideal.

    Agree also.

I would have thought that Monty's stocks have risen given that Woosha was the Chairman of an AFLCA that found Monty to be the assistant coach of the year.

I assume this means that Woosha is out of the running for the job. That's a shame because I would have had him on the shortlist of former AFL coaches considered for the job (with Ratten & Bomber Thompson).

He was very clear that he wouldn't be coaching next year so I'm sure he could add some value to the selection process

Leigh Matthews is on the Brisbane board as football director, I would think that would preclude him from the panel. Dunstall could have been a possibility since he is no longer on the Hawthorn board. Of course he may well have been approached and turned it down for all we know.

Tom Harley is not long out of footy. Luke has been out of it for a while. I would have liked someone recently out of footy and from a premiership club. Brad Sewell, Cameron Ling, Jude Bolton for example.

Someone like Richard Colless to consult would be a prudent decision in my view

Maybe put Robbo and Barrett on the committee for picking the coach, they seem to know everything.

Underwhelmed by Darcy's inclusion. He a featherweight tv and radio presenter who has no insight into the all encompassing cut and thrust of coaching. Mick Molloy would have as much credibility.

Maybe he's there for the insight into how the numpty, peanut throwing "supporters" will take the decision so that the board can plan accordingly?
