AFL 9s – Australia’s newest social sport
Not sure if this is the right forum but just wondering if any woofers out there are into AFL 9s?
http://www.aflvic.com.au/afl-9s/
AFL 9s is Australia’s newest social sport and has something for everyone.
It’s fast and free flowing but with ‘touch football’ style rules is suitable for any age or skill level.
Twenty one competitions, with possibly more to come, will kick off in early November, meaning there is a game of AFL 9s nearby.
After the success and popularity of last season, 13 new competitions will be in place this year with Geelong, Bendigo and Shepparton added to a host of metropolitan locations.
Importantly, AFL 9s is easy to play for both males and female, not too physically demanding and provides an environment that focuses on the social side of the game, where enjoyment and safety are a priority.
For those looking to be active and still enjoy a mid-week catch up with friends, this is the game for you.

I have a work colleague who plays it in the off season. He really enjoys it.

Seems to be growing quickly.

There used to be an 8 a side version called Rec footy and the Bulldogs ran a comp at WO. Twodogs, Rocco Jones and I (among others) were part of a team that formed on the Bulldogs BigFooty board.
Would love to get involved again but I don't have the time to do the groundwork to set it up.

MJP played too. Remember the names the two of us called you when you decided to umpire?
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

IIRC you referred to the whistle I was using as a 'hideous growth' and MJP declared that 'we can't be friends anymore'.
Good times.

Very. Some of the most fun I have had playing footy, and we played against some interesting people.

Loved playing with all you guys. Some still post, some not so much...but for someone who had just moved to Melbourne the rec footy concept was a godsend.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Be great to get a WOOF team up and running. You need 9 players?
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

That's two of us. I guess we need up to 11-12 people (fill ins included) who are geographically close enough to meet up and play once a week.

The game we played against the AFL administration was the highlight. The look on Anderson's face when he squibbed it and dropped that mark is close to the funniest thing I've seen in my life.
