Massive Anchor for Leon Cameron saying he will question the umpires department for talking to Green and having pre conceived impressions of Green. Don't be a knob Cameron your player is a grub and should have been out for head butting the week before

He kicked 0.4 for the game so by no means was his approach perfect, but he does struggle with set shots and was a fair way out. By playing on he was able to kick from a couple of metres closer to goal, swing out to the right and kick on the run as opposed to from a straight run-up, and kick to a vacant goalsquare, giving it a chance to go through on the bounce. Did something very similar v West Coast in the EF last year, and against Brisbane last week, both of which were goals
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

    Bankers:

    1. Stringer goal from theball up 25m out. He is going to really explode soon.
    2. Wood found a bit of form without the ball that had been lacking so far this year. Timed jumps better, was in the contest.
    3. Clearance work, ball wasn't getting swept away like it has been.

    Anchors:
    1. Libba, Dunkley and Boyd misses. The glaring entries that made up our .19 on the scoreboard.
    2. 50m penalty against Wood. Correct decision technically but on the back of terrible umpiring and communication. Duped him into it.
    3. Greene. Just an arse hole. Hate that media have gone into bat for him.

    Banchor:
All the ingredients of a winning formula minus goals, the most important of all.

    Bankers:
    - Stringer has made a good start to the season
    - The Bont always gets us going
    - Caleb Daniel great response to his dropping

    Anchors:
    - Smith had very little influence offensively and defensively
    - Umpires decisions regarding deliberate out of bounds
    - Dunkleys four behinds!!

You can add Daniel's miss in there too SoS. Genuinely pannicked or rushed an open goal on the left.

Serious question; if we fix up our goalkicking then do we all think we're all good? Is it bad that I think this is not a bad position to be in? Like, goal kicking *should* be one of the easier things to rectify, right?

It's what goes into the poor goalkicking. If we start taking contested marks from 20m out, it will suddenly be a lot better

    Correctomundo.

It's a bit of a circular issue. If we had viable contested marking targets or genuinely crafty forward players in the side we move the ball forward differently, and don't need to rely on hitting the hot spot regularly to force scores under pressure.

Likewise if we were flush with excellent and efficient ball users through the middle our forward deficiencies would be masked somewhat.

    1. Dale showed a bit. Not perfect and made errors but encouraging.

    2. Wood played his best game since last year.

    3. Bont, Stringer, Macrae, Daniel.

    ------

    1. Clay has been awfully disappointing, looks like he's running in sand.

    2. The kicking for goal.

    3. Dunkley is such a smart player and seems to average 2-3 shots on goal per game, but his inaccuracy is staggering and undoes so much of his good work. Surely needs to be practising even if it's away from the club.

Dunks had two shots from low percentage areas that were from positions you'd expect good kicks to be a solid chance of converting from. We need to get used to him not kicking them because h'es not a good kick.

His play on and kick for goal in the last was pretty much a copy of his effort in the QF against WCE except it was from further out, he's smart enough to figure it was his best chance of converting but he buggered it up with a miss kick.

If Dunks could kick he'd be elite.

Do you have confidence his disposal will improve over time, or inconsistencies with his ball drop will remain?

E.G I think Clay Smith's turned into a reasonable kick these days - that's not the primary issue with him ATM though.

Not really, he has been in elite systems for 4-5 years and it's still very poor.. He can become an effective kick, but it will never be a strength.

Smith is still an ordinary kick, he has improved his set shots, but in open play he isn't great.

Maybe Dunks could start trying the Stevie J around the corner set shot?
