Re: Bankers And Anchors - Round 10 2017 vs StKilda

    B.

-Jake Stringer. It's great fun watching him have a day out. More StKilda shoulders sagged with each goal
-Tom English's first game. No blunders and looked very comfortable. One contest where he had a free hit so he tapped in out in front and roved it himself was impressive.
-Bailey Dale's game. He's not far from a break out game. Hopefully he's our big improve rin the back end of the season.

-quick mentions to Caleb Daniels. Led the charge after half time. And just beating St Kilda.

    A

-handballing too much inside 50. The rule should be if your facing goal inside the 50 you have a shot if possible. If you're being dragged down or you're surrounded by opposition players then handball it to a teammate. Or somewhere vaguely near a teammate.

-not putting them away. Teams are bunched together on wins and percentage will be important.

-Stringer not kicking 10 or 11 goals. Not so much an anchor, more a bit of a shame. When the ball kept falling in his lap in the goal square I was hoping he might have a huge one and kick a big bag. Hopefully it comes soon because it will come.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Re: Bankers And Anchors - Round 10 2017 vs StKilda

    Bankers:

Stringer - not just the 5 goals - but that he kicked well from set shots, and very importantly - he led up at the footy and gave his team mates a great kicking option. When on form - he is an absurdly hard match up for teams that don't have that versatile tall-ish defender (eg. Rampe, Stratton, Haynes).

Bailey Dale - huge for his career, but also huge to get such a big output from his type of player. Looked like he belonged today, and huge in us putting a gap on them in the third.

Dahl/Daniel/Wally/Jong in the second quarter - They just simply went lower and harder than the opposition and hands in close were a class above.
(Special mention: Biggs back in the side and 20 of his 21 possession were effective - really important).

    Anchors:

    - Bonti's goal kicking. 1.7 the last two weeks. Glad it didn't cost us today - but we need better from our best player.
    - Giving up 46 marks in the first quarter. The saints only marked the ball 40 times in the second and third quarter combined - which change the game, so we made the adjustment - but giving up 46 marks in a quarter, we are fortunate it didn't get ugly early.
    - Flat spot in the middle of the last quarter - let them back in when we had the foot on the throat and an opportunity to win by 60+.

Banker: Bailey Dale - chewing on some pretty tough words at the moment. Amazing game.

Anchor: St.Kilda - 7.8 is deplorable. KB had them, the Dees and us as the only 3 Victorian teams capable of winning the flag. Clearly there is only one. Pretenders.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Re: Bankers And Anchors - Round 10 2017 vs StKilda

    1. Stringer - he played a great forward game. He presented beautifully at the right times and kicked straight. The mids helped by not fluffing around too much either up the field allowing him to time his leads.
    2. Defenders - they all stood up yesterday denying the Aints all game. The Aints were getting f50 entries but weren't able to even get a shot on goal. Great pressure.
    3. Bailey Dale - He has backed up last weeks good game with a better game this week. He didn't look like a kid out there anymore. The last 2 weeks Geelong and St Kilda had 134 and 96 tackles respectively. They are huge numbers and you might think a kid as light and young as Dale could go back into his shell but instead he's played the best 2 games of his short career. He had composure and used the ball really well.

Special mention to Bevo for getting the no M Boyd no win duck off his back.

    Banchor
    1. Adams - terrific game. He looks huge out there and took some good marks but still has to get the panic disposal out of his game.
    2. Jong - he could be an A grade midfielder if his disposals were better thought out. He needs to kick the goals when he gets the opportunity.

    Anchors
    1. Murphy injury. A few minutes before the end of the game just to rub it in.
    2. No killer instinct. We had a team ripe for a belting and we let them off with a slap on the wrist.
    3. The Bont's goal kicking. I thought he had zero flaws. I'm a little heartbroken.
They've done studies you know, 60% of the time, it works every time!
