Re: Lance Franklin
A stellar career from Buddy. Kicking over 1000 goals in the modern game today is a great effort and may not be seen in a long time again.

Absolutely. Superstar. Be a long time before we see the likes of Lance again.

Re: Lance Franklin
Is this legit?
Things we saw Buddy achieve during his entire career:
354 games
4 Coleman Medals
8 All-Australian jackets
2 Premierships
2 GOTYs
1,066 goals.
Things we did not see during Buddy?s entire career:
Essendon winning a final.
More of an In Bruges guy?

He was drafted in 2003 so first year 2004.
It checks out!
Edit no one year off! 2004 of course the Griff year. So it's even longer for the Dons.

Re: Lance Franklin
Only slight blemish is the three losing GFs at Sydney. They were completely outgunned last year, but after winning it in 2012 to lose it with Bud two years later would be disappointing along with watching his ex teammates get the threepeat. Then the umpires stole 2016 from them, ****ing cheating pricks.
But that?s almost nit picking. Most players would love two flags, or even one.

Re: Lance Franklin
Hell of a career. Goes without saying.
Just an exciting player to watch, especially during his prime with Hawthorn. I was working the game where he kicked the 80m goal in the wet v Collingwood, we all watched his 2-peat craziness v Essendon and as Sedat mentioned, I have vivid memories of him destroying us in the QF. We legit threw everything at him that night and he torched two of the best key defenders of the modern era (Morris and Lake).
Having Buddy and Cyril in the one side was unfair. Loved em both.
Also, for a guy who was relatively poor at marking the ball, boy did he make up for it and kick a lot of goals! Also not the most accurate either, which further shows how dominant he was. Didn't he kick 2.12 against us one day or something nuts?
Been a pleasure to watch Bud.

Was not smiling, but gee, he was incredible to watch. Unstoppable.

Re: Lance Franklin
Often superlatives are tossed around lightly but not with Buddy. He was a once in a generation player. Don’t ever recall a player being so universally loved as much as Buddy. Goes to show how much of a class act he was.

I can't believe how bad the umpires stole 2016. If I was a Sydney supporter I'd be livid. So bad.

Fantastic summation of him.
I'll never forget the 2008 QF. He was playing yo-yo tricks with the footy while we were sweating it up.
Haven't seen many better than Buddy in full flight.

Re: Lance Franklin
Whenever I think of Franklin I think of the Dale Morris tackle which invariably lead to a drought breaking flag. Well play Buddy and good riddance.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.
