I know there is a ruling you cant trade consecutive first round picks, but surely the incentive for clubs is to just go as hard as they can each year as the landscape will likely be manipulated again in 12 months time. Like an endless credit scheme where you never really have to face the debt, and if you have on field success in between. Its a win win and win situation.
That’s the problem when you throw so much FA Compo and tanking compo around like this year. Look at Dunkley for 17 turning into 23, but for Cleary & McCabe could’ve been Pick 25. Hardly the fair compensation of getting a first rounder for a good player! We could’ve traded it last year for a better pick. Then wait for future trading two years in advance.

It’s a bloody mess.
