Dogs have crunched numbers and sons of guns appear likely recruits

    CAROLINE WILSON - February 18, 2010

THE Western Bulldogs have quietly rested the old playing numbers of former stars Steven Wallis and Tony Liberatore, giving the strongest indication yet that the schoolboy sons of the pair will be signed to the club in 2010 under the father-son rule.

Thomas Liberatore and Mitch Wallis are expected to wear the respective numbers 39 and 24 of their fathers in 2011 in what the club hopes will prove a timely retaliation against the introduction of the Gold Coast and its raft of early draft choices.

In a decision approved by the board, no player will wear No. 39 in 2010 after the delisting of Malcolm Lynch, while the No. 24 worn by Wallis, a former captain, was not used last season and will be kept aside again.

I'm very excited to see these guys joining the club. They both played some great football last year and in a year where the compromised drafts start, it's especially good to know that we have these two locked in.

This will take away some of the pain of losing a player to the GC(if we do).

There will be more Sons Of The Scray to follow in 2011 - 2013
    Son of Peter Foster
    Son of Mark Hunter
    Son of Simon Beasley
Son of Robert Groenewegen (79 games) will play at Williamstown
TCD might know of some more.

Have heard that Mitch Wallis is going to be a gun!!

This year looks exciting, but so does the future when you factor in Ward, Roughhead, The Ace, Harbrow, Hill, add to that some of names list above - hell yeah : )

There was nothing on TV last night... so I watched the 2008 Season DVD - fired me up!! but hate the ending...

"The Western Bulldogs' guernsey presentation does not take place until April - after the start of the season."

This is a direct quote from the article.

How does Caro expect to have any credibility at all when she let's this blatant error go to print?

All this overt interest, stories etc aren't in our best interests IMO.

Wish the Club had gone about this differently.
The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride.
