IT’S hard to imagine a family of mad Bulldogs supporters wanting to give up one of their most prized memorabilia but for love of the club the Whitlings are doing exactly that.

On August 18, 1995 - the day after Bulldogs’ great Edward James Whitten died - Sharon Whitling bought EJW 3 personalised number plates for her husband, Ewan.

Three was EJ Whitten’s jumper number.

“The day EJ died my father, who has a very tough exterior, came home from work with a tear in his eye - he loved EJ with a passion,” son Daniel told the Leader.

But after the family moved to Cairns six years ago the plates had to be retired.

Now, the Whitlings want them proudly on show around Melbourne again.

They’re looking for a true EJ Whitten, Bulldogs or AFL fan to give them a new home and spread the legend of “Mr Football”.

For expressions of interest phone Sharon on 0403 727 501.
