Obviously they're not all top 20 picks but at least some certainly were. Pick 20 was not equal to pick 20.
Add those names to the 8 or so top 15 picks this year as well as banking a few via the trade [clever work by Clayton to stagger the kids he picks up in the next few years], then we go through the same thing again with GWS, scary times ahead!!!

Love Rocket a lot but he doesn't seem to get such good results from the quieter, more introverted players.
Would Griffen be a quieter, introverted type?

So you think Rocket doesn't offer Josh any support and his only way of communicating is via shouting?

    Really?

Liam Picken doesn't say boo around the club, he seems to go ok.

90% of our team are the quiet introverted types.

Yep, that's my point. He doesn't have a problem with types of players.

No, of course not. It's just interesting that two of the players who undoubtedly have talent but don't seem to have played to their ability (ie Everitt and Hill) seem also to be on the sensitive side and maybe need a more subtle approach. (And Picken maybe doesn't fit the "sensitive" category! )

Does lack of intensity to the contest = being a sensitive person to you?

    Possibly.

Maybe a reluctance to get hurt could be an indication of sensitivity.

Not with the 17 year olds under the Jan-Apr rule being signed by GC. Maybe only worth 5 spots or so outside of the top 20 but it is still compromised before we consider the other draft concessions. Fortunately Libba & Wallis have birthdates that fall outside this range

Just remember Nth gave away pick 35 for some 22yo named Richardson that has been running around for North Ballarat (in their own backyard). The guy has not even played a senior game of AFL. Josh is worth more than him.

We couldn't afford Walker unless a high priced listed player was cleared anyway.

If we wanted pick inside of 20 then that should have been our starting position.
We only really were interested in trading Hill to Hawthorn for a pick below 40 if it assisted us in gaining Walker. When that no longer became a possibility due to Hawthorn playing games of bluff, the asking price for Josh went up. Time is a very valuable commodity during the last days of trade week and hawthorn miscalculated. The time was worth a lot to us and Hawthorn didn't understand this.

I don't disagree with this and the timing was the real reason we knocked back their offer but really why go through the spiel of "he's a top 20 player and others agree with us" when its not true?

Others in the club will now gauge themselves against Hill and could potentially have an over inflated opinion of their own worth.

We should have simply said to the Hawks that by the close of proceedings on Friday that was our deadline if they wanted to deal with us.

    Too hard to say IMO.

Plenty of introverted types would have an appetite for the contest, just as many extroverted types would hesitate on the football field.

You don't have to be an extrovert to work hard. If you're working hard and making making mistakes, you'll be assisted/guided. If you're not working hard, then rightly so - you'll probably be canned.

Hill needs to be pushed further up the ground though. He's certainly stagnated/become stale sitting in the forward half. Needs to get back to moving around, tends to wait for the easy ball as a forward.

I agree, he would be used better receiving from half back and if the disposal from half back is a bomb and hope Hill maybe an option for the high leap to regain disposal.

If he became a mobile receiver then you could forgive him in other short comings.
