I don't care for him either, but the boy can play.

If we're gonna get a total germ of a player then I'd rather it be King Toby.

Re: The Chad Thread
Phew - dodged a bullet there - Wingard thinks he is worth $850k to 1m per season for a flakey flanker who flopped badly when tried out in the midfield. Only worth $600k tops. (Actually probably only worth about $75,000 but AFL salaries are ridiculously inflated compared to their actual worth to society).

Re: The Chad Thread
I'm not fussed that we missed out on Wingard, but I am puzzled by our approach.
I just don't understand why we needed to even comment.
Hawks didnt feel the need to come out and say they wanted Wingard. They let Wingard do that.

Re: The Chad Thread
I'd forgotten about this article, probably because I just really really wanted to get some A grade talent onto the list.
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/...530-zrt9s.html
So it seems his general lack of interest in football probably drives the behaviour, and that's fine. However, huge dollars and a lack of interest in maximising physical attributes probably isn't a good mix.
I'd be really interested to see the deals tabled to him compared. A lot of thought goes into this stuff retrospectively, but mostly a pragmatic reason drives the outcomes and I'd be surprised if (though it's not impossible) this didn't come down to a financial and or tenure based decision.

Re: The Chad Thread
I'm not sure belittling a two time All Australian that the most successful team in the last 40 years just secured justifies missing out on his services. We wanted him, he's a good player , he chose Hawthorn. How do we become more appealing?

Re: The Chad Thread
From Sam Landsberg's article we clearly didn't rate him to be worth this year's pick 7.
Next year we are expected to claimb up the ladder. So maybe a pick between 10-15 for him.
The Bulldogs were hoping to use their future first-round pick for Wingard but Port’s preference was to secure their first selection this year, No.7.
We clearly have someone in mind which would keep this year pick 7 for.
Put in a decent year, keep the war chest built up and go after Kelly.

We need to get on the front foot now with a long term offer to Bonti, post haste.
If Wingard doesn't believe in us, I'd love for Bonti and the club to show their commitment to belief in our future.
