Im very grateful for PG's massive donation, and I'm sure our executive are doing everything they can to steer us towards producing a more sustainable financial result. However it really does highlight how precarious our situation is and how urgent it is that we find ways to grow our revenue base. How long can we expect to have $1m donations coming in to bolster our bottom line?

There's a difference between donations and profit. PG has lent one million to the club interest free,(a truly magnificent gesture) the million won't count towards profits or income but the interest savings vs borrowing a mill from the bank (let's say $48k) definitely helps our profit and loss and costs.

I did too, but it's poorly worded. If the original money was a loan, the 2nd transfer is not a re-donation. Either way doesn't quite make sense.

Peter Gordon continues to do everything he can to turn our club into a successful one.
I just hope we get a a big spike in memberships and attendance at games as a way of saying thanks for all his efforts.

This article paints our financial position in a fairly healthy light compared to a few of the other Victorian clubs.

Over the 2 years on the table, our combined profit is third highest, only behind Hawthorn and Collingwood.

Our revenue has steadily grown over each of the past 5 years and is now well higher than North and StKilda's.

Given strong membership growth this year and healthy on-field prospects, it does feel like we are in a position to really establish ourselves as a sustainable, strong club. We've just got to sustain this momentum.

Another key factor is the stadium deal. There have been some hints that the AFL could purchase Etihad early, possibly even this year. This is a big story for us, potentially a massive turning point.

Such exciting times.

Does anyone else see an issue for Hawthorn, having been gifted training facilities and presence in the eastern suburbs seriously in trouble when they have a 30% reduction in membership revenue through inevitable poor performance at the end of their reign and an $8.3M debt burden?

My only issue is we still have a huge debt ( third largest in VIC) that we have not made any inroads into for a very long time. This is costing us a lot of interest.
