2012 WOOF Supercoach/Dream Team thread

Hi All,

As I'm on nightshift and I am bored out of my brains I've taken the liberty of starting up this year's first WOOF Supercoach League.

League Code is 462266. I think last year we managed to fill 5 WOOF Leagues.

Not looking forward to coming up against the likes of Mantis, Rocco, SS and Coon Dog. The scores they were 'dissapointed' with last year were astronomical compared to the pittances I produced.

I reckon I'm over Supercoach. I watch games & if my captain gets injured or is playing poor I lose a bit of interest & it somewhat detracts from the game.

I'm considering a radical approach to Supercoach & will do it if I get enough interest.

What I'd need to do firstly is set up a number of basic mail.com accounts with addresses something like chris3grant@mail.com, kelvin31templeton@mail.com etc... & allocate one for each participant.

Under my Supercoach plan you can only pick Western Bulldogs players in your team. That's the reason for an email account which differs from what you already have because if you're doing this one without an alternate email it would stuff up any other Supercoach you're in.

Hopefully you understand this, but I need to make it interesting, because by & large most of us would have 13 or 14 of the same players. Maybe you can't have the same captain any more than 3 times, or a themed round where your captain is a defender, I'm sure you get the idea.

Any suggestions to create a bit of interest & who would be interested in going in something like this?

Maybe you could choose players solely from the Dogs and whoever we play that week. Would allow some more variation.

You could have a minimum number of Dogs players instead of having only dogs players. 15-20 would be a good compromise and allow for some variation.
Possibly C & VC have to be doggies players too

They do thorough checks for the leaders before awarding prize money, wouldn't recommend this for anyone expecting to be in contention

Those who have done a preliminary team, out of curiosity which Bulldogs have you chosen?

I try not to go too trigger happy with my own team as expectations are generally higher than they should be.

But I have filled out half the team so far, and ive got Smith, Lake and Howard so far. Howard in the backline, hoping he gets games in midfield, could be the smokey. Also not sure whether to have Smith as the midfielder or spend extra on Wallis, who do you think will get more game time?

It's not a bad idea but as said previously, it needs tinkering because otherwise we'll all have the same players.

Perhaps allocate 2 other teams we're allowed to choose from (Gold Coast & GWS?) -- with a minimum of at LEAST 15 Bulldog players?

I've only got Lake in my team at the moment. Will wait till NAB cup to see if he will stay in it, but he is quite cheap and if he plays to what he is capable of. His price is a steal.

I'll wait to see how our rookies/drafts go and if they get listed in Round 1 or not.

I have only been to one training session but it was a monster with loads of hard work. Vez lagged badly at times and has miles to go before being fit enough to play a full game off half back.

Didn't show any of this in the intra club, he got plenty of the ball. Hopefully it was just a bad day..

I have gone for mid field forwards rather than the tall forwards that cost a mint this year.

PS Abyone looking for a cheap defender, Sam Shaw a big chance to debut for the Crows next week. Wont get a million points and is injury prone, but is bargain priced.

Lachie Neale has all but been promised a game for Freo when he gets over his ankle injury, (cheap midfielder) . Wont get 100+ points but should get a regular run in the midfield and is also dirt cheap.

That's not so bad. I think Spurr will get a chance at some stage if they get an LTI.

Thought I'd try it out for the two weeks, it runs out on Monday morning.

It looks like it wont be far off the mark, I'm on 1865 with Lake, Smith and Dickson to count. Broughton was a bit of a let down and I would have liked a bit more out of Chapman and Scotland but doing ok so far. Got Magner and Mohr sitting on the bench as well.

Shocking first up effort, big scoring rookies on the bench - had Magner & Smith both get ~100 and copped a 30 from a GWS kid. Ditto defence

I managed 2027 with Magner and Mohr on the bench, reasonably happy with that. I've got 5 strong mids so I will probably always end up with one of Clay Smith or Magner on the bench. I have a funny feeling that Magner will be more consistent.

No trades this week but Lake is in my sights if he has another quiet one.

Ive got Magner in my sights...but I think its too early to decide if Cunningham (who was a sub) and Shiel (scored 30) are worthy of being on the Midfield bench. Trading too early can be costly. Midfield which includes Smith is doing the job at the moment.

What strategies are Woofers using in the upcoming bye rounds.

If I leave my team as is I will get three Doughnuts in week one.
I'm thinking about using all three trades available this week and going all out for a win, and just cop what comes in the following two weeks.

I have a Supercoach and a Dreamteam, but the most enjoyment I am getting this year is from my team at Ultimate Footy. It's more of an American-style, draft based system. Unlimited delistings/pick-ups each week, each team is entirely unique, and you can trade with the other teams.

Can either use Dreamteam points, or categories (9 categories, team with the most category wins, wins the match).

I haven't made any trades to my SC or DT, I've given up. Way too much analysis and planning needed.

I'm looking at making one trade per round through the byes, and that should see me through with between 3-4 zeroes all up each week, which I'm reasonably happy with.

Problem is that only leaves me with 8 trades left for the year, I will have to tread very carefully.

Yeah pretty much conceded this week. Had 5 donuts, Ablett Captain, got 1540 and won 4 out of 5 leagues.

Happy with that.

I'm not in the running for overall, so just copped my right whack. 15 players for 1485 points, won 4/5. The loss was against someone with 3 more players.

Really good score. I only ever got over 2500 once in a losing GF.

I was doing well but to many injuries and to many sideways trades. Traded in Judd and Hurley a few weeks ago, lost Hurley that week, lost Judd the week after. The story of my season. :(
