TCD's fence Sitting Thread remeinded me of the Time Capsule Threads we have had in the past ... So With BulldogBelle's permission, I have cut/paste and modified a thread from the past.

Have a go ;)

So, this is one of those Time Capsule threads, a bit of crystal ball gazing – it will require you to answer 12 questions then just before Round 1 starts, I will lock this thread and will reopen it again after Grand Final Day.

Bragging rights to the poster with the most correct answers & will be crowned 2012 Time Capsule Winner and will have the honour of creating next seasons Capsule thread.

Crows to be a big improver? Coach inspired?

With the dogs do you think our forward line will function better without Hall? As I know this was a concern for you over the Hall years.
I am pleasantly surprised you have us making the 8, normally you are very realistic and matter of fact of where we are at as a club, and normally you are on the money.

If we win 13 games, we are playing finals.

Not wanting to dispute but this year might be the year that you could miss.

My calculation is that anything less than 13 can't make it.

This is because there are several teams who are likely to win very few and possibly a record number of teams on 5 wins or less.

Crows get a 'real' home game every second week and have a stack of talent. They were a massive disappointment last year and will appreciate the lower levels of physical output required to play under Sanderson than under Craig...They wont need much to go right in order to shoot up the ladder.

With us, I don't expect the forward line to be great and can see us winning a games 12 goals to 10. I just believe that the pre-season focus on stoppages and consistent effort is a good one in a team with moderate talent levels...I can see a Sydney style performance from us where everyone 'under-rates' our chances/efforts yet the wins somehow keep coming.

I see strong possibilities of
GWS
Port
Gold Coast
finishing with no more than 5 wins.

Also could see Brisbane and Richmond struggle if a few things go wrong.

It will definitely take more to make finals with 18 teams than with 16. The top 8 now takes only the best 44.44% of teams not the top 50%. This looks like an absolute minimum of 12 wins but may actually require 13.

Gold Coast won 3 last year - and this year they play GWS twice...I would be staggered if they didn't win 5. I guess Port could but they will be miles better than last year (though I accept that they might not win too many more games).

When I checked back on my own table I found I actually have Gold Coast winning 8. I have Richmond only winning 5.

Of course it is all opinion at this point.

2. Will we make the final 8? No I've adjusted my model to take into account that Adelaide appears better than I had first reckoned and now I'm coming up with 10 wins, 10th place.

3. How many goals will Jarrad Grant kick in 2012? 10 I've gathered from posters that he appears to be playing higher up the ground (lead up marking role + running back to mid-field on defensive switches)

4. How many goals will Liam Jones kick in 2012? 25. Between him & Guido for highest WB 2012 goal kicker.

5. Who will have the better season Cooney or Lake? Lake on the rationale that Cooney may well only play 50% of the time due to leg injury issues.
