R 9 - Western Bulldogs vs Geelong

There are two awards that you can vote on, once the game is completed.

Voting closes each Tuesday at 8.00pm.

The first one is for the Joe Marmo Medal for the best players on the ground.

There are 4 votes allocated and it's a 4 for the best and of course 3, 2 and 1.

The second award is for the Ron James Medal for the best 2 pups on the ground.

2 Votes allocated - 2 being for the best pup and 1 for the runner-up
Remember the cut off age for a pup is 22 as at the 1st of January, 2012.

Minson - Played so well. Competitive all over the ground.
Cross - A Cross game. Courage and effort, did a great job on Bartel.
Lake - Very good early. Geelong got all their easy goals when he was sucked out of the 50.
Austin - Killed Podsiadly. Didn't make a mistake.

Dahlhaus - Quiet early, good second half.
Wallis - Good early, quiet second half.

I was thinking that too. I thought Lake ran off beautifully from full back and set us up a number of times. Some of the free kicks for Hawkins were deplorable.

I've got Lake ahead of Austin in mine. On a purely stats level, Lake's opponent kicked three goals, and Austin's only stole one at the end. I'm not saying that's indicative of the truth of the matter, that's just the stats.

Looking back at the game I'm surprised at my own votes a bit that I couldn't fit Boyd in with 30 odd touches at nearly 90 per cent efficiency. But that's one of the reasons I like to do my votes straight after the game so I can go with what I feel at that time and not dwell on stats etc.

I was surprised by that stat too.
So I had a little look.
I picked a few dogs who get a lot of the ball, and only used cases when they got 20 touches or more.
Interesting.
