Quality side with some more pieces of the puzzle to come back in.

Yes it has been, but Essendon have 10 first choice players not playing tonight.

Hawthorn play a brand of football that's attractive on the eye.

Highly skilled and tough. Good side to watch.

I just turned the Dawks game on to hear Denis C. saying "Well, the Bombers are still in it"....

Hawthorn's kicking is very good to watch.
Bombres are being carried by Jobe Watson.
Reckon percentage is really coming into play, and the Bombres wouldn't wanna get poleaxed.

Davey off with another soft tissue injury. Essendon certainly have had a lot this season.

Essendon have been largely rubbish since the start of June but they still managed to beat us by 86 points in that time.

Hawks are white-hot at the moment. September will be a different story when time and space will be at a premium, but they are doing everything right to position themselves for a top 2 finish.

They are definitely coming good at the right time. Essendon have just faltered. You would not want to play Geelong in the first week of the finals.

Not a hell of a lot of pressure in the game to be honest. Hird's stated that they were still a work in progress.

Noticed a former Bulldog who had a fleeting moment a few weeks ago is again out of Sydney's team!

Not a hell of a lot of pressure in the game to be honest.Agreed. The Hawks cut poor teams to ribbons with their foot skill, and tonight they had ample time and space to hit targets with ease. It's a different ball game in September though.

We played well against the Hawks for two quarters to be within 15 points, then they smashed us in the second half. No one else has been near them since.

I think Bill Brownless mentioned on AFL Live Regional Radio tonight that their percentage since being rolled by Richmond has been something like 230% over seven weeks. Just phenomenal. A sleeping giant was awoken that afternoon.

Geelong finishing strongly Adelaide.
They're booing Scott Thompson for an accidental clash with Stevie J.
The cats are the dangerous floater of the bottom 8.
Norf creaming the lamentable Dees. Watched a quarter and the Dees really gave a yelp for about 5 minutes. All on the back of Nathan Jones.

For a player I didn't rate 2 years ago, Tom Hawkins has improved exponentially. He has become a fantastic physical presence across half forward, very Jonathan Brown-esque.

That was a weird one. My first thought was that he'd lined him up Brodie Holland style, but when I saw it in slow mo it looked as if they both just seemed to appear from behind the rucks at the same time. I'm sure Thompson didn't make any great efforts to keep himself from popping him, but I don't think he lined him up either.

Probably one of the last guys you'd want to hit you too. He's a tank.

Looks like its going to be a close finish between the Blues and Tigers. If the Tigers lose this one then I don't think they'll make the finals.

What is awesome about this result is that Carlton's favourable remaining draw should see them make the finals, which will hopefully ensure that Ratten keeps his job in 2013.

You will from me - Richmond were atrocious tonight. If they have any steel as a club, they win this game by 6 goals. Carlton were plucky but that was massive fail by Richmond tonight.

Just wondering if they'll get belted around the ears like we did( rightly so)
Dare I say it Richmonds structures failed ( not having a player on the line)
A player over committing on the wing, turnovers costly as well.
At least it looks like they won't finish ninth!
Brock McLean, for a guy on the scrap heap is playing very well.
Reckon if They don't want him he 'll find another home.
