Any NRL fans here?

Not a NRL fan myself these days, but good to see my old league team in the GF.

Go Manly!

I've jumped on the Storm bandwagon and will be jumping off pretty quickly as I did last year if they lose.
Personally I dislike the game but admire the hardness and non fuss of the players.

Last year the only whole game of NRL I watched was the Grand Final, which for some reason still annoys me as even an amateur like me knew that the Storm were getting ripped off by the umpires, or should I say referee. I'll watch the GF again this year, after only watching maybe one or two matches this year. I barrack for Victoria more than I do Australia in sports, so I'd like to see the Storm win.

Big NRL fan. Went to the game at the Dome last week, was great to watch.

Storm will demolish Manly on Sunday night.

DR, what do most Sydneysiders feel about this game? Manly from what I can ascertain are not the most well liked team in Sydney & I couldn't imagine for a minute Melbourne would be everybody's darlings either.

Good question but I'm out of touch with league these days.

My guess: we don't have the same "Go for a Vic team" attitude as you guys do. I reckon there would be substantial support for the Storm up here, due to the depth of hatred for the Sea Eagles.

I was listening to SEN today and from my understanding of why Manly is so disliked was because one of the commentators did some emotional spiel about how the struggling team team from out west was playing the silver tails and a number of supporters then decided enough was enough.

I lived in NSW for a while and I have to say that I didn't like them at all. Their players got off when they should have been suspended and they rorted the salary cap plus their supporters were arrogant. The NRL had to support them because they were really the only high profile team taking on the super league for the supporters attention. I thoroughly enjoyed there poor seasons. Very much like what has happened at Carlton.

Do you know what makes the Sea Eagles so despised? I'd never heard about it until this afternoon.

See the post above yours.

They used their cheque book to snare some high profile players eg when they raped Wests. That does overlook their great homegrown players like Randell, Fulton and Hasler. Funny enough Easts did the same in the early 70s, getting players like Beetson and Coote.

My theory is that they were all jealous of the incomparable Cliff Lyons.

Genius who liked a ciggy at half time.

Sorry, we posted at the same time, I missed it. The reporters on Ten were comparing it to a hatred like we have for Collingwood, although it seems to be for fairly different reasons.

Yeah, the hate is probably as strong.

Isn't Cliff an attractive man?

Cliff Lyons was just on the ABC news talking about Manlys chances.

The Coon Pup's excited. He's put $5 on Zappa Turner to score the first try & $5 on Izzy Falou to win the Clive Churchill Medal. That's this weeks pocket money.

So you are a double loser? :D

Great win to Storm, must say from a female point of view Billy Slater is definitely easy on the eye!

Though he has a bit of the David Beckham problem, not the high pitched stuff but can't string a two words.

I think Cooper Cronk is better

Great win to the Storm, although I have to admit I have a fair bit of learning to do with the rules...I kept calling for them to shepherd, but it seems they're not allowed to do that...

Yes, I can confirm this as I've seen him in action at Star City Casino. Absolute chick magnet.

Well Ernie, after 1968, 1970, the early eighties, 1995, 1997..... I'm used to GF losses.

Are any of the woman here under 80 and use the opening line of "do you want to buy me a drink?"

Did anyone see the post match interview with some Manly dude? He was all sombre and shattered and this other joker comes up behind him, all smiles, necking a stubby - 15 minutes after being smashed in a grannie!

I'd be dirty as hell if I was a Manly fan.
