ADELAIDE could face further sanctions for salary cap breaches with reports a third-party payment to captain Nathan van Berlo is also being investigated.
Two days after it emerged the club was under investigation for outside payments to forward Kurt Tippett, the news of the skipper's own arrangement was revealed by Fairfax Media.
The Age reported the Crows could be hit with more penalties "over a deal set up for van Berlo that may breach the AFL's payment rules".
The club will face the AFL Commission on Monday to answer three charges regarding the recontracting of Tippett, the alleged breach of the total player payment (TPP) rules and draft manipulation.
Club CEO Steven Trigg must answer three charges, former football manager John Reid two, current football boss Phil Harper one charge and Tippett himself two.
The former Crow, who wants to play for the Sydney Swans next year and still hopes to get there via the December NAB AFL Pre-season Draft, faces possible deregistering over the third-party payments.
The Age believes there were multiple companies involved in trying to keep Tippett in Adelaide at the time of his last contract negotiation.
South Australian resource company McMahon Services has been reported to have paid Tippett $20,000 to $30,000 a year for two years, while Balfours Bakery diverted $30,000 from a club sponsorship at the request of the Crows.
While the Balfours deal was lodged with the AFL, it has been suggested the request to send the payment directly to Tippett was left out.
Club sponsor Amcor Packaging was also approached over a third-party deal for the 25-year-old.
There is one other unknown company embroiled in the scandal.
It is also unknown which company was involved in the van Berlo deal.
Adelaide issued a statement after the initial charges were laid against Trigg, Reid and the club on Monday, saying the club "notes that this matter is being investigated by the AFL as a direct result of our decision to report it and offer full assistance to the investigation".
The statement also said the club "draws attention to its exemplary record and reputation of total and willing compliance with all AFL rules that govern the draft and total player payments over the past 22 years".
