I reckon some of you are kidding yourselves. Minson was so far ahead of everyone else it wasn't funny. He was the main cause of our centre clearance dominance and he worked brilliantly around the ground. Huge effort from the big fella today.

He was only against Longer, dominance was par for the course. The bit I liked was the mids denying the Lions the clearances even when they got first hands to his taps.

So you concede he dominated but because you don't rate Longer, it somehow reduces Minson's performance. He was outstanding today.

I did rate his game, I liked his work around the ground as well and how he is now holding his marks. It's a shame he couldn't do that when Hudson was number 1 ruck and he had to spend more time up forward.

Could fit 10 blokes in the votes today no worries. Goodes, Liberatore, Griffen, Gia, Lower, Minson, Higgins, Roughead, Wallis & Murphy all played vote worthy games.

Bloody hard to select the best players. It was last year as well but only because it was a struggle to find 4 players. I tossed the coin on 1+2, 3+4 and Dahlhaus and JJ in the Marmo. Too hard to split. Sorry to plenty especially Will. Just got to give some fellow defenders some love.

One question I want to pose, was Higgins really that good today, if so what was it? IMO, watching on tv
He was good, but a few things let his game down. He would've been in my top dozen, but not any higher.

He was good but not great, did well in the last when the sting was out of the game to end up with 3 goals.

Is really hard to pick because it was a team effort but here is my votes anyway:

4 Minson - His best game so far
3 Goodes - Best debut, albeit at 29 ;)
2 Dickson - Tackling and forward pressure was intense
1 Lower - Rich was nullified!

2 Libba - Clearance work at best
1 Luke Dahlhaus - Quick and dangerous

Sorry to Griffen, Murphy, Higgins, Gia, Roughead and the rest :)

I'm not voting because I watched the match in a very disjointed way but I'm also surprised how many votes Higgins is getting. I thought Dahl would be ahead based on his pressure acts (though the whole team was very good at that today). It doesn't show on the stats sheet though so It can be easy to forget.

No one doubts his work rate, and I don't think he had a 'shocker' as some do, but I challenge you to give me a player who was worse than him for us on Saturday.

Thought every player played their part in the victory. Someone mentioned that Jones was poor - I actually thought he performed his task really well, sure he missed some pack marks but he worked really hard and made sure that Merrett had minimal impact on the game.

Did anyone else notice Cordy putting blocks on Jones's marker several times?
Good work. Looks like a deliberate strategy to use Cordy as a bit of a decoy or at least to assist Jones in bounding out of the square, using his pace.
