Some fascinating match ups this weekend (sorry that probably sounds like a b Macavaney comment "FASCINATING").

Aside from Melbourne - you could make a case for every side this weekend. Even GWS are not without a hope at hope against the Saints who have had injuries again and are struggling.

Busy week for the MRP already. Ryder & Kommer should go for head high hits. Freo look pretty good, already breaking the Dons down with pressure.

Fremantle are looking strong, they just seem to control the game. Will be interesting to see if Essendon can "inject" some venom into their game otherwise they are going to be smashed.

Dons have looked better this quarter but struggle to score. Pavlich & Hurley have had 2 of the worst shots at goal I've ever seen. Hurley's improbably turned into a goal assist.

If you said it with your pants on then that's OK, and you'd have that distinction from Bruce immediately.

Cracking comeback by Essendon. Absolutely dominated Freo in all facets since half time

Yep, they have. Freo have looked stuffed.
Btw the holding the ball rule sucks. Some awful interpretation tonight.

Great to see the match winner kicked by a guy who illegally knocked out an opposition player in the first 2 minutes of the game. There's justice hey?

Freo let themselves down letting Essendon come back. Good comeback and win from Essendon though. Mayne would be shattered.

Essendon outworked them in the end.
Mcpharline's absence cost Freo significantly, and Ryder will get a few for that.
The Pav is in a world of pain, Carlisle pantsed him.

Likewise. We've heard all week the players aren't affected by what's happening.
The reaction after the game... Sure it doesn't.
Freo have to throw the kitchen sink and some and get Buddy urgently.

Essendon can indirectly thank Stephen Dank for that win. He's inadvertently motivating them towards win after win with the mud-slinging he's doing.

When's he going to learn that Essendon will rally around Hird come hell or high water? He's not going to bring him down the way he's doing it by feeding snippets to the media, whether they're true or not.

Looking forward to see what North do this week. If they cough up this round they could just about kiss their season goodbye.

Ditto Carlton. They need to be able to beat a team like Geelong if they're going to be a legitimate threat.

Don't be so sure. administering medicine by IV is illegal. I'm not really sure how Essendon are going to get around those text messages.
I hate Freo even more now. Upset my tipping! Can't believe they gave up such a big margin.

McPharlin going down really hurt their structure.
Do you think? On a wet and slippery night they didn't miss him anywhere near as much. Essendon actually were too top heavy in the first half which is why they subbed a tall for a mid

Freo will struggle to maintain that game style for whole games and indeed the season as a whole. It is extremely labour intensive and if they do not score when on top they can be run down.

An in form Pav would be a major positive though.

Eagles kicked 17 goals in the second half compared to four.

I know a few people here have been critical of Brad Scott's demeanor, but I thought he gave an outstanding press conference.
Surly, yes, and all that carry on about the AFL roof was an example of why a lot of people don't like him.

But he calls a spade a spade. Took full responsibility for the issues in today's loss, mentioned his own coaching was at fault, and his analysis of their loss was succinct and well put.

Well that was a great game for the neutrals.
Not sure whether Mick would be overly pleased with the lack of defence played.
Think Norf and the cheats are either bottom 8 or outside.
Gee John Elliott's got some nerve wanting Demetriou to resign.
The same bloke who oversaw systematic cheating and who had to be forced out.
Can't believe he has the nerve to show up at their games.

The People's Beard was very good for the filth today. I still love watching him bash and crash far younger, taller and more athletic ruckmen and still win out.

Horks looked ominous today. They have a couple of beauties on he outside in Bradley Hill and Jed Anderson - just what they needed to add to their list.
