Great return so far.

Coons stole his extra vote. Still 2 votes for Granty against Carlton is nothing to be sneezed at.

The record book says: 2013: Minson 2 votes, Grant 2 votes.......

GAJ holds on!

Thought Minno was stiff in the Brisbane game. Started slowly but was well on top of Leuenberger by the final siren.

Thought Griffen would have got more votes.
Good return from Libba, and thought Minson might have got a few more.
Then again he's not a midfielder.
Unusual that a player in an ordinary side wins it.
Once upon a time it was interpreted that players in a good team took votes of each other, and players in ordinary teams won the medal.

Anyone know if the TAB pays out the full odds or half because 2 players are tied for most votes?

I think they halve the odds and pay out on both players.

I bloody hope not!! I took the odds on libba & will be annoyed if my pay out is halved. Thought libba would have polled more than 1 vote in the last 2 games of the year.

You get half the odds as your bet didn't win outright.

Agree with you I thought Libba should have polled better in the last couple.
Look on the bright side its still a win and you will still end up in front of those who took Griff.

Sam Landsberger tweeted last night that Shaun Grigg was awarded the 3 votes against us in the Round 13 game agains Richmond with 21 disposals (6 clangers) and Griff didn't get a vote but had the footy 38 times.

This medal is becoming more irrelevant every year.

Its all based on who is popular with the umpires. When Cooney won it in 2008 I was very happy for him but seemed like he didn't expect to win it at all. Judd shouldn't have won it in 2010 - there were many others worthy that year and that just proves your point craigsahibee.

What was Griffen's disposal efficiency in that game out of interest.

I say it every year, the Umpires cop a bagging and abuse all season but at the end of it we revere their opinion above all.

We lost this game by 70 odd points. Which history shows you will struggle to poll unless your Gary Ablett.

I remember this game, Grigg seemed to be always by himself, getting the ball in a heap of space. Sam Landsberger also didn't mention Grigg kicked 2 goals.

Richmonds highest possession getter was 26, I don't think the votes are all that suprising. Griffen and Boyd had very high numbers but werent very influencial.

Griffen possibly should have snuck a vote. But every player in the top 10 would have had atleast one game they were expected to poll and didn't. Pendlebury in Round 1 comes to mind straight away.

I agree, Griff unlucky but when you get smashed like we did you can't expect any player to poll votes. Grigg was good.

To be honest, I feel like the Brownlow is getting more predictable, which I don't like. I love that this has historically been an award given on the basis of completely unbiased umpire judgment. Whether it is awarded to the best player each year is secondary for mine to the process of awarding votes.

These days I've heard that the umpires look at the stats sheet when giving votes. I'd prefer they didn't.

Umpires love Libba, good sign, should be a short favourite in a few years time. Libba's partner looked not very tall though, start worrying about little Libba Jnr Jnr's future footy career and the prospect of F/S selection by WBFC.

Didn't Grigg also shut down Libba which is no mean feat.

It gets us every year, but it's the fairest and best. In that order. Perhaps Grigg (or anyone who polls 3 without racking up 50 cheap disposals, for that matter) impressed the umps with how he went about it.
