There is a couple of others though that I prefer over that.

There was a heritage round one was very good.

I love the premiership jumper, so a vote for older style from me.

I do agree with Gabi, having the our colours means we will never have a bad strip.

We could be more creative with our away jumper, use it as a marketing tool/ sponsorhip aid, anything that may bring some more dollars to the club.

The older jumper for me, there's something about it that i like. naf of the clash jumper it sort of takes away the tradition of footscray/bulldogs having a mainly blue jumper, weird reason yes, need for anyone to tell me about it, no.

The older one is the best for me.
I wouldn't mind seeing the turn of the century 3peat premiership (mainly red with blue/white sash) as an alt top.
Just think ones with bulldogs on the front date quickly.
That pyjama vertical strips one is the worst.

Current Home Jumper - Retains the traditional colours in roughly the right ratios but that gimmicky, badly designed logo is like a skidmark on a bedsheet and belittles the wearer...4 out of 10

Clash Jumper - Anemic, and likewise compromised by the childish logo...2 out of 10

Older Jumper - Follows all the tenets of good design...Uncomplicated, bold, distinguished dare I say and very easy on the eye, a classic...10 out of 10

'70s Jumper - Speaks of the era from which it was born, not necessarily a bad thing...8 out of 10

Mr R Science,
That's exactly, exactly my take on all the jumpers.
Don't need the bulldog picture, just go straight for the simplest strongest design and leave it alone. If we need an away strip just switch the colours around to a blue and red stripe on white ground. If only the white was slightly off white like wool white and not bright white like polyester white the jumper would be perfect. And a 7 year old could draw it in 10 seconds on their lunch box.

That's only cos of your kinship to the umpiring fraternity WD54...you love the 'all-white' look.:D

As an aside, the clash jumper is even worse than its biggest critics make it out to be...the club I am currently coaching has a similar clash jumper, but all three sets were 'unfortunately' damaged during cleaning this week...best news I have heard all year.

In the heritage round a few years back, we had one that I really liked. We played Essendon and I think Hargrave played on Lloyd and got absolutely smashed. The jumper, though, was awesome.

Most of our jumpers look good, I prefer our older ones though. Even that predominately red one looks great IMO.

The older style is simple and carries on the tradition.

The White alternative or, even TCD's Red alternative (each without the bulldog motive), are simple and would be my choices for the alternative strip.

The Red alternative would have to be with white shorts - blue shorts wouldn't be accepted by the AFL (clash with home team), and red shorts - just the thought of it .........

bring the stripes in that strip a little closer together and you've got yourself a bonafide clash strip that doesn't completely suck IMO. It looks like the USA national soccer strip. I'd take that over the current clash strip - and we've worn it before (albeit in a long ago pre season - thanks TCD for the website link and info a while back)

Your avatar Ledge (and part of TCD's) we should adopt that I reckon for clashes

I'm a merchadise freak though - this probably sounds wrong, but I'd love to see more unofficial merch like scarves on sale outside the ground on game days (like EPL games) the AFl would likely send cops to rush them off the concourse at the Dome!

Did people used to bag out South Melbourne for their hideous predominantly white strip? It's not like white football jumpers are a new thing. I don't mind the away strip. It could have been worse. Just look at Brisbane's collision of colours strip this year.

The Older Style guernsey is brilliant. Whilst we have the best color scheme going round, I am not a huge fan of the bulldog logo on the guernsey (Still the best guernsey in the AFL but).

If we adopt this older style as our home kit, the current away strip can be adapted by removing the logo to represent a slight variation of the home kit.

The clash could be improved if the red and blue hoops were wider so the white wasn't as predominant, and take away the logo. Its those bloody white shorts with the white jumper that makes the overall look shocking to my likeing.

The "'older" style leaves everything else in the shade. The red with the red-white-blue sash, the 1935 and even the 1897 offer a range of choices for a clash jumper without having to add yet another stylistic nightmare. The club's history is rich in design. forget about fads.

The premiership jumper is my favourite by a long stretch, followed by the current clash strip. If they'd drop the Dog off it, it'd be brilliant.

Other than that the "70s" jumper is up there with the best, its the jumper I grew up looking at. Pretty sure I have my long sleeve woollen one with red cuffs and collar floating around.

As far as the clash strips went, the new one is best but I am guilty of liking both the night jumper we wore around '96 and the Origin energy themed one. Our VFA jumper would be a good alternative though.

I wore the jumper we wore against Carlton last year for the anniversary of EJ's death to the QF against Geelong (just to split hairs, the stripes on that one are much thinner than the other 'Heritage Round' tops we've worn in the past 5 years, and hence much closer to the top we did wear in the 50's) and this old(er) dogs fan was walking past me and just lets out 'that's a nice looking top' on his way past me.

Class

and for argument's sake, I reckon if we ditched the robot bulldog and went back to the older style top, the clash jumper would look pretty cool (to me that is - I know plenty (especially kids) like it already) just being white with a red and blue stripe accross.

I'm assuming you're referring to the horizontal stripes old jumper. Didn't realise there was a thinner stripe version we wore last season.

Personally I'd like to see the current style ditched forever. With that said, there may be a place for it to be worn each season during family round as the kids do probably prefer it.

I'm assuming you're referring to the horizontal stripes old jumper. Didn't realise there was a thinner stripe version we wore last season.

Personally I'd like to see the current style ditched forever. With that said, there may be a place for it to be worn each season during family round as the kids do probably prefer it.

We did it against Carlton with black shorts last year - I stress, I'm splitting hairs re: the stripes, but they were thinner - the pic of EJ a few posts back on this thread, it was pretty much that...the blue was a bit darker and of course Leaseplan was on there etc, but the stripes were the same - the other heritage tops (against Melbourne 04, Richmond 05) had thicker white and red stripes.

I'm a fan of the older jumper too, that's the one I wear to games. Like a lot of others have said, the stylised bulldog head just doesn't do it for me.

How good does that look?

Maybe it has something to do with the CG in the pic????
But seriously It's the old type for me.
Please tell me why anyone would like the new white clash one?????????
Far tooooo white!

I wonder if us supporters put together a plea for the return of that classic jumper CG is wearing, if they'd consider it?

Really is a lot better than todays jumper.

There wouldn't be a Bulldog supporter around that wouldn't prefer it.

Definitely would support that. How great it would be to see our champs in the classic on Grand Final day 2010.

Older Jumper

Always loved this, and always will.

Should get rid of the bulldog on the front, just don't think it looks good.

and for argument's sake, I reckon if we ditched the robot bulldog and went back to the older style top, the clash jumper would look pretty cool (to me that is - I know plenty (especially kids) like it already) just being white with a red and blue stripe accross.

Such as this?

Or even this?

* I know it has Leaseplan on it before someone mentions it.

Yep - that white one now looks the business for a clash top

Nice work TCD (as always) :)

Damn nice TCD. That clash strip looks the goods and brings a tear to the eye.

Go Dogs.

Me - sorry, I don't mind the current design.

that's exactly why - it's different, yet still retains the 3 most important colours...

To be honest, I can't remember which one I voted for in the poll... that said, I may be the only one here, but I don't mind the current design that much. I know many object to the "robot" Bulldog, but I'm not that bothered by it. The "old" design is OK, and if they went with that, no problem. The white clash strip is good, I reckon.

Even though it might date me, a bit, I still prefer the premiership jumper (I purchased no 6 of the mounted 50 year guernseys).

However I think the current strip is probably better for todays TV orientated games, and on TV the clash jumper sure stands out well.

Big Barry would look great in any of them.

2008 Jumper

Pre Colour TV 1960's jumper, with thinner bands than the previous Heritage version and with the current collar and no cuffs. Worn on what would have been Ted Whitten's 75th birthday

Agreed. I've changed my mind again. My favourite Bulldogs jumper may well be THE ONE WITH BAZZA IN IT!!!!

That's the one - I love it (except we lost in it - at least it doesn't have the date on it)

That was the cool thing about the 05 one - having the date on it, I'll always remember Boyds goal right on 3 qtr time.

Could live with either of the classics but prefer the thick stripe version personally, as in the CG pictured version on previous page.

Although if it did go to a vote would hate to think the classic failed to get up because we couldn't collectively agree on the thickness of the stripes bit like how the republic vote failed a number of years back on how the 'head of state' should be chosen/elected.

Older Older Older.....54 jumper thats us, that cat on the front MUST go!!! And while we are on it, the Logo needs to go back to the proud bulldog stance with an Aust Flag, which just so happens to be Red White and Blue!!
