Or I hope so. We need a captain and he reminds me of Carey at the young age who can just lead in any part of the ground.

Give us something WBFC.

Murph will take the honours next year while we sort out the men from the boys.

We are going to need someone to galvanize our club and I couldn't think of anyone better than Murph...even if it's only for one year.

Is Murph one of the disgruntled senior players???
I just dont know what to believe.
Can we shut down this talk of Bonty for captain? Thats a page out of the Melbourne Football Club playbook. Poor kid doesnt deserve this.

Nothing like Melbourne. They though their now captain was going to leave so they tried to handcuff him with the captaincy. Carey was very, very young when captain and led some good players and some average players to a handful of prelim & grand finals. Bonts is the latter type of young captain.

We need a proven captain

The Rat is our man.

Our players can't handle some stern criticism. How do you think they'll handle a 19 year old second year player being their captain?

The way its is going he could be the oldest one on the list.

Because like my old drill Sergeant used to say, 'I won't ask you to do anything I wont do'. Like Carey, Bonts does everything already. If we need someone who leads by doing, he's my pick.

Possibly could be an issue that Macca actually never did and cant do what any of them do.

It has to be Murph.

I think its a case of an old dog for a hard road.

Matty Boyd is the man to lead the younger players through the crisis, and give us a chance for some succession planning.

We need to buy our younger guys some time.

I like Murph as an option whether Griff in with us or not.

It has to be Murph.

Why does it have to be Murph?
What if he is one of the senior players that was unhappy?

I like Dale Morris.

Dale for me too, he embodies everything I love about this club...most of us probably thought Griff was cut from the same cloth unfortunately

Assuming they are happy at the club and keen to take on the role I would pick Dale Morris with Bob Murphy as a very prominent vice.

Dale was my pick for skipper when Johnno retired. Would be very happy to see him finish his playing days as our leader and guide us through a tumultuous time.

Dale is too quiet, Murphy for mine

I say it has to be Murph purely on the basis that of him, Boyd and Morris, he looks most likely to play on for two more years, given his form. God do I wish we still had Crossy. :(

Maybe let the kid get out of his teens first.

For mine, this is how I would like to see the leadership structured.

Roughy as captain. Murph and Dalejoint vice captains. Their job is to mentor him behind closed doors whilst encouraging him to make decisions, and to unconditionally support him in front of the playing group. Any disagreement is to be discussed offline, away from the group.

Lets hope not. Those boys rely on planes like we rely on cars to get to work almost.

I don't know about Captain (although it will probably come in time) but we have landed a player who compares favourably with the likes of Pavlich, Koutafidis and Adam Goodes.

Only if he transfers to another club.

I'm sure David Dench captained North when he was 19. There was a bloke at Geelong in the 60s who was very young too - John Yates I think it was.
The Bont was an inspired choice. He is such a class player for a kid so young. Has a wise head on his shoulders - reeks class from behind a microphone. Just a great personality, unassuming, thoughtful, polite.

Maybe. I don't care for the other clubs. But the tv coverage said he was the youngest to captain a team to a win.

Cameron Ling also said it on 3AW post game.

Might need to call him 'Ice Man' if he's not going to captain again this year:

Kicked the last goal against Port Adelaide, set shot after a contested mark to get to a 9 point margin & a 3 point win.
Kicked the last goal against Adelaide (before the siren & Dale's goal after it), set shot after a mark inside 50 to get to a 9 point margin & 15 point win.

Apparently he's not as good as Cripps. Also Bevo's not as good as Bolton. Carlton must be a great team.

Was it only Carlton supporters surveyed ?

ledge

It all depends what's happening when the survey comes out and who the media is pumping up, Sadly a lot of aussie rules supporters are lemmings when it comes to the media.

Seemd silly to do a survey after around 10 games. End of year is when you can truely sum it up.

And literally a match winner with the winning last goals in two huge games. He just wants the ballin the big moments and usually nails it. How sweet it is to have a player like that.

With Wood very emotional in the rooms, we need a superhero for the last round and finals. Time to fire up the 'Bont Light' in the night sky over Footscray and call in Captain Bontempelli!
