So with the news that Ryan Griffen has decided the great on field success GWS has been enjoying and the cultural allure that is Blacktown is too much to resist, the question is what to do with Griffy the Bulldog?

I broke the news of his name sake to him earlier, and while sad, he's he's determined to keep a stiff upper jowl.

So what do I do?

~ Change his name to a current player with an exciting career ahead?

~ Stick with his name to show that players come and go but real Bulldogs stay true?

~ Throw the toys out of the cot and rant on social media?

I open the debate to the floor...

Draft a tall forward. Nickname him "Grippy" because he has excellent hands.

Problem solved :)

Can't change names. I'd go with the toys/cot.

I'm sorry but I think you need to open a twitter account for him and let him express himself to the world or the sadness will fester.

There's a character in Game of Thrones named "Young Griff" who has big things ahead of him.

Stick with it, but change your dog's origin story.

Or are you into Harry Potter? Claim he's name after Gryffindor house.

A good ol' fashioned rant never goes out of fashion though! :)

It's my sons 4th birthday tomorrow.....pretty glad he wants a '4' (because he is turning 4!) and that I didn't push for a '16' on the new guernsey.

Given how this trade period is panning out, I think it's odds on that Jonathon Griffin will be offered a $3mil contract by the club in the next few days. So hold tight.

Otherwise if it has to be a name change, I hope it's to "Jez" or "cammers" in a few weeks time.

Say his real name is Peter, you just use his surname as a nickname.

Is there a Griff in this year draft? Get him with the first pick we get from GWS and the dog can keep his name :D

"Griff The Dog announced today he was seeking a trade the Western Sydney for a 'fresh start'. He said that while he'd always appreciate the influence of Greystache on his career as a pet, he felt that he had to do what was best for him and his career. Greystache's goldfish is also rumored to be seeking a trade but has a attracted little interest."

Just start following the LA Clippers and say that he's named after Blake Griffin.

Each option you have presented has merits, so I can see the dilemma you're facing.

Subject to the better half not being willing to consider the other alternative jeemak has raised, I would recommend a name change on the basis that it will not serve as a constant remainder of Ryan, and nor will your dog have to live with the shame.

I think the better question however, is what I should do about my username???

We have a rooster named Brian (cause the turnip he was named after was my eldest kids favourite player at the time) - we can continue to adore the rooster and the way he stayed committed to the one true faith, while the 'player' he was named after is now thought of as lower than the excrement that the rooster provides every hour or so (at least that turns into manure).

That was going to be his name originally. The Mrs was concerned about naming him after a player who was no guarantee to make the grade (he was a battling ruck/forward at the time), so she thought Griff was a long term safe bet!

In that case, Pearce or Redpath. For the love of God (Chris Grant) please not Bonts, Stringer, Macrae, Hrovat, Crameri, Roughy, Libba.

I sat him down with a glad of Glenmorangie and went over his options.

and we've decided real dogs stay loyal... Well we might revisit things if Tommy Boyd wins a Coleman :D

Good on him and he certainly looks happeir once the decision wa made.
I love a Glenmorangie myself, although I just have it with a hint of water and no ice.
Greystache Have you tried the Glenmorangie Sherry or port wood finishes they are right up there for mine ?
