The Western Bulldogs today announced leading law firm Slater and Gordon as the Club’s official Coaches partner for the 2015 season.

Slater and Gordon, a naming rights partner of the annual Robert Rose Cup since 2013 and a foundation partner of the Sons of the West men’s health program, has increased its support of the Club this season.

Western Bulldogs Acting CEO Michael Quinn said the Club was proud to partner with a like-minded organisation in Slater and Gordon.

“There are great synergies in this partnership. Both organisations are committed to achieving excellence in our respective fields but also making meaningful contributions to our communities.”

“We are extremely proud that a market leading organisation like Slater and Gordon supports our Club and its future direction, and we look forward to strengthening our partnership this season.”

Slater and Gordon General Manager, Personal Injury (Vic, SA and Tasmania), Janine Gregory said “Slater and Gordon is thrilled to be building on our existing partnership with the Western Bulldogs.

“For the past two years we have developed a great working relationship with the club, particularly through our involvement in the Robert Rose Cup, which will be will sponsoring again this year.

“We have a lot in common - our roots are in Melbourne’s west, we share similar values and are both passionate about what we do – always striving to achieve the best possible outcome.”

“Our client base is everyday people, just like the fans of the Bulldogs.

“We are really excited about continuing our partnership with the club and look forward to a great year ahead.”

Again he digs into his own pockets for our club ... I have a rather large man-crush on Mr. Gordon

Peter is no longer in Slaters. Also the Gordon in the name is not that of Peter's name it was Slater & Gordon from along time ago, well before PG joined.

My understanding (and I could be wrong, but this was what I was told), is that he has a controlling share of the company?

I don't know about shareholding but he is not on the Board or Executive management team. He may have influence, who knows but this sponsorship is by the entity.

Correct. The company is about 80 years old, and the Gordon in the name and Peter working there - a coincidence only.

Slater and Gordon are a massive listed company (market cap of $2.3 billion) - I know Peter has some money but a controlling share, I doubt it.

He's not listed in the 20 largest shareholders either (the largest shareholders are big corporates).

Yeah I was wondering if the name was from Peter Gordon. I read about the history of the law firm and it was named after I guy called Hugh Gordon. I don't think he has any relation to Peter just coincidence.

I think you will find that our Gordon was at the firm when it floated on the ASX. Making he and the other initial shareholders very, very wealthy and I've not heard that he's offloaded his share holding. His new firm is Gordon Legal which is also doing very well.

Whether it's his personal pocket or at his direction as a shareholder or director, it's cash baby and bloody thank Christ for it! :)

Yes he formed his own legal firm after leaving Slater and Gordon. He is a very smart man.

He sold his holding a couple of years ago before he set his own firm up.

Well in that case perhaps we couldn't sell this package of sponsorship and we thought it best go to someone?

Yep. This stage in the season seems to me to be a funny time to be paying for a sponsorship.

Thank you ... I stand corrected. (Still have man-crush)

I know why they are worth so much money. When my father died a couple of years back, the take out from S & G for settling the estate was ridiculous.

Good on them for backing the Dogs, but to me this is a glorified ambulance chasing firm, who prey on people on vulnerable positions. They may come across as helping those who can't help themselves but it is certainly not through benevolence.

Yes I had the question as well BAD. All law firms lean one or the other so Slater and Gordon are no different. Don't they have a no win no fee policy - not sure how that works.
