This guy knows how to coach. He is prepared to concede in some areas of the game (example hitouts), as long as we win in other areas.

Great game day tactics, great game plan. No doubt we made the best decision to appoint him

In a relatively short period of time he has refocused the Club and changed the Team culture , embrace the grind , enjoy the training and learn from every negative and positive

Who was the last bulldog/Footscray coach to start with a four and one record?

Has there been one?

Not sure about that for a first time coach, but last time we started like this for the season was 2008.

After round 5 so far, we are equal top of the ladder (but third on percentage).

Wallace in 1997?

If you dont count 1996 where he was caretaker coach.

Bluey Hampshire had a four and one record in 1983 but he took over halfway through the year before as caretaker coach with a three and ten record.

Bevo is from scratch.

I am liking Bevo's measured performance in post match interviews. Again today he focussed on the collective effort of the players as the reason for our good start to the season.

He's going really well, but I wouldn't cite the Cordy experiment as his greatest achievement. That is clearly about developing players and applying the acid test to see what he has to work with

Without spoiling the Bevo love , how good a list kids wise did Macca give us ?
Don't get me wrong I wasn't a Macca hater or lover but wow he left us in a good place.
In hindsight we got the right coaches at the right times , one to rebuild a list and one to give this list a free spirit, confidence and belief.
Yes I love Bevo, timing was exquisite.

Wow, that photo!

You could almost wrap them in Khaki and change it to B&W. I read a lot of comradeship and "no worries mate, I'll look after you" in that photo.

Make no mistake we have a team that is willing to play for each other and something very special is brewing.
