I think about Friday night. I haven't let the thought form perfectly in my mind yet but I have flashes of a packed MCG and noise like I've never heard before.

This is going to be great. Better than great we are gonna break some Hawk heart.

We need a sea of red white and blue at the MCG next Friday night.

They'll be there they know this is different, this is special. We just pulverized the form team on their home deck. To paraphrase Costner we have built it and we will come.

I expect a bumper crowd on Friday night. I feel very up beat about this game. It's a big opportunity to take another step and I'm sure the boys will be up for it. The extra day of rest will not go astray we have momentum. Go Dogs!

I reckon 85-90 000 on Friday night.

In my mind we run, run, run and hit, hit, hit, and at some point their old bodies just can't keep going with us. That moment will be a thing of great beauty. The bulk of 85,000 roaring as we slay the reigning ruler and stake our claim as the likely young successor.

The roar is getting louder. Sometimes I hear the thud of bodies slamming into each other.

Every game we get for the rest of the year, we'll be on a wave of support propelled by the rest of the football world.

This week, Hawthorn. Kill off the 4-peat.
Next week - GWS. Knock out the AFEL's golden child.
GF - Geelong, Sydney or Adelaide. People will find a motivation.

This rain has set in. What's the forecast for Friday night?

If it's going to rain like this most of the week then it might be slippery at the game

Clearing Thursday and low chance of showers from Thursday afternoon through to the first bounce. It rained all day last Friday and the ground was simply marvelous.

That's true the MCG has really good drainage.

I reckon 85-90 000 on Friday night.

That would be our largest crowd since the 2006 elimination final against the pies, and third or so highest ever.

We did hit 78k against the saints in the 2009 PF, and 76k against the hawks in the 2008 QF.

May get some drop off from the hawks fans as they went last week and lost. Hopefully it's a big one.

I reckon a lot of neutrals will turn out to see

A/ Us in general
B/ The Bont in particular, on the MCG in a final it could just be something spectacular where he makes it insane.
C/ To see Hawthorn die.

I think it's the allocated AFL members' game too.

Also there aren't many MCG games this finals series meaning demand should be higher for the few games there are.

The crowd will be the biggest crowd we've ever played in front of by a fair margin. I'm predicting 85,000+. We will be out in force.

When I browsed online last night for tickets just for fun (already got mine) there seemed to be only rubbish seats left. I'm feeling like it's going to be a massive crowd.

Doubt we'll surpass the 108,000 of the 1961 GF. Also against Hawthorn funnily enough.

Will rain a fair bit today, before easing tomorrow. Should be a dry day Friday. Think there will be enough time to drain

Yep - the way they played on Friday night - it was almost 100% dry - after it p1ssed down all day and only stopped half an hour before hand.

I was sitting row A on Friday night - and the surface was absolutely magnificent.

Remember being at the cricket at the G one day years ago and it was bucketing down, the ground was a lake. Then the rain stopped and I watched the water literally draining away like they'd let out a bath plug. Minutes later they were playing like nothing had happened (that's how I remember it, anyway!) Magnificent drainage.

It'll be fine.

No other games in Melbourne all weekend, it will be a big one, 75-80k IMO

I'd be very surprised if it was only 75-80K.

Seems to be shaping up as an 80+....just going by the bulldogs member and the MCC member experience.

Typically for a bulldogs final - we are able to get balcony passes for our non-MCC bulldogs crew. Not available this time. And even Level 1 and Level 4 reserved tickets have disappeared early. Only 1 Melbourne final per week makes a big difference - and we also have plenty of bandwagoners!!!

My dad has been to all our prelims since 1985.

Last night was like nothing he has ever experienced.

The march, the noise, the excitement in the crowd, it was just a complete experience.

His description of the march: There were so many, when the head of the march reached the concourse there would have still been people leaving Fed Square.
