This is the round 10 edition 2017 edition of the Weekly Bankers and Anchors Thread. Once the game against StKilda is concluded post your nominations for:

The Bankers = 3 guys/aspects of the game that we banked on to do the right thing during the game
The Anchors = 3 guys/aspects of the game that weighed us down by their errors or poor play

Optional: New addition to the Bankers and Anchors Banchors 3 players we thought who were in the middle in how they went in the game neither a Banker or Anchor.

Please limit it to no more than three of each player or aspect of the game, but feel free to make honourable/dishonourable mentions. As usual try to make it constructive criticism.

Try and restrict it to individual players rather than aspects of the overall match - I will allow more freedom now as the thread seems to be going down more of the aspects of the game path so you can have 3 for each made up of aspects of the game and individual players.

The thread is named in honour of a popular WOOF Contributor, The Banker, who passed away on 22/04/2012 after a six month battle with cancer.

Stringer. Got five, could've had six with his poster, could've had 7 if Bonts didn't burn him with that rubbish in the last.
Bailey Dale. Poise, touch, skill, game sense. Really responded to having a run of games and not being yo-yod.
Tim English. Looked really comfortable. Should've have a shot for goal if not for an umpire blocking him from marking inside 50.

A

Bonts. Team kicks 12.8 and he kicks 1.4. That garbage in the last where be burnt Stringer was probably his worse ever mistake.
Bob's hamstring. Enough already, leave him alone footy God.
Not getting a big percentage. Should've really, really cashed in but kept blowing very gettable chances.

The return of Biggs and Roughead
Jake's 5, could have been 7 or 8.
Lin Jong, hard at it all day

A
We didn't put the foot on their throat hard enough, % lost.
Murph's injury if he misses games.
Williams, great potential but more involvement needed

Stringer, not just the goals but his movement and use within the F50
Bailey Dale, classy user of the ball
Caleb Daniel, clever all day and balanced

A
Jong went hard all day but by god some of his decision making by hand is awful
First quarter instructions (presumably) - missed open targets in the corridor to play down the line
Bont's hip - looked really laboured when he ran today

1. Stringer was excellent and the difference today. Great movement and work rate.
2. Daniel is the smartest player ball in hand we have, some great defensive efforts too.
3. Dale was super impressive; classy, poised and skilful. Hope we see more of it.

1. Bont looks to be struggling, but still could have had a big game if he kicked well. Some really poor disposals by foot and hand.
2. Murphy was costly a few times, looks good in open space but a little shaky under pressure at times.
3. Boyd - needs to take marks.

Dale accumulating 27 touches and a goal is a massive jump in production. Break out game for him.

Stringer gave us life up forward
Daniel did it all defensively and creating attacks.
Dale's best game yet.

A
Bont's missed goal in the last. Come on mate...you're better than that.
After several weeks of great improvement, Jong took a step back today with some of his decision making.
The game is general was pretty horrible to watch....thank god we won it.

B:
The Package. A delight to watch today. Dominant force I50.
B Dale. Ran like the wind. Secure with the footy. Promising.
C Daniel. Superb with the ball, courageous without. An efficient game.

A:
Bonti's goal kicking. Off the mark in a game where I thought the rest were starting to turn the corner on this front.
Hunter handball to Stringer in the goal square. Ambitious.
Jong handball inside 50 to player under the pump. Same error every week.

Daniel BOG. Just class all day
Stringer. Having a great season
Dale. I just love the kid. Been confident he'll be a player and really starting to look like one.

Anchors
Longer. What a gutless cheap shotting coward. Saw him twice punch one of our players while they were pinned by one of his teamates. Bont went him for it which was good to see.

Newnes. Pfff. Another guy who thinks he's a tough guy while hiding behind umps and videos.

Late game injury to Murph.

Its great to have movement and work rate next to Jakes name. I thought he might struggle first up after injury not being the fittest on the list but he was excellent. Love how he kept leading at the pill, he didn't do anything flashy just s good solid forwards game.

Also was in defensive 50 in stages as well. Worked incredibly hard today, best game I've seen him play in a long time.

B.

-Jake Stringer. It's great fun watching him have a day out. More StKilda shoulders sagged with each goal
-Tom English's first game. No blunders and looked very comfortable. One contest where he had a free hit so he tapped in out in front and roved it himself was impressive.
-Bailey Dale's game. He's not far from a break out game. Hopefully he's our big improve rin the back end of the season.

-quick mentions to Caleb Daniels. Led the charge after half time. And just beating St Kilda.

A

-handballing too much inside 50. The rule should be if your facing goal inside the 50 you have a shot if possible. If you're being dragged down or you're surrounded by opposition players then handball it to a teammate. Or somewhere vaguely near a teammate.

-not putting them away. Teams are bunched together on wins and percentage will be important.

-Stringer not kicking 10 or 11 goals. Not so much an anchor, more a bit of a shame. When the ball kept falling in his lap in the goal square I was hoping he might have a huge one and kick a big bag. Hopefully it comes soon because it will come.

Bankers:

Stringer - not just the 5 goals - but that he kicked well from set shots, and very importantly - he led up at the footy and gave his team mates a great kicking option. When on form - he is an absurdly hard match up for teams that don't have that versatile tall-ish defender (eg. Rampe, Stratton, Haynes).

Bailey Dale - huge for his career, but also huge to get such a big output from his type of player. Looked like he belonged today, and huge in us putting a gap on them in the third.

Dahl/Daniel/Wally/Jong in the second quarter - They just simply went lower and harder than the opposition and hands in close were a class above.
(Special mention: Biggs back in the side and 20 of his 21 possession were effective - really important).

Anchors:

- Bonti's goal kicking. 1.7 the last two weeks. Glad it didn't cost us today - but we need better from our best player.
- Giving up 46 marks in the first quarter. The saints only marked the ball 40 times in the second and third quarter combined - which change the game, so we made the adjustment - but giving up 46 marks in a quarter, we are fortunate it didn't get ugly early.
- Flat spot in the middle of the last quarter - let them back in when we had the foot on the throat and an opportunity to win by 60+.

Banker: Bailey Dale - chewing on some pretty tough words at the moment. Amazing game.

Anchor: St.Kilda - 7.8 is deplorable. KB had them, the Dees and us as the only 3 Victorian teams capable of winning the flag. Clearly there is only one. Pretenders.

1. Stringer - he played a great forward game. He presented beautifully at the right times and kicked straight. The mids helped by not fluffing around too much either up the field allowing him to time his leads.
2. Defenders - they all stood up yesterday denying the Aints all game. The Aints were getting f50 entries but weren't able to even get a shot on goal. Great pressure.
3. Bailey Dale - He has backed up last weeks good game with a better game this week. He didn't look like a kid out there anymore. The last 2 weeks Geelong and St Kilda had 134 and 96 tackles respectively. They are huge numbers and you might think a kid as light and young as Dale could go back into his shell but instead he's played the best 2 games of his short career. He had composure and used the ball really well.

Special mention to Bevo for getting the no M Boyd no win duck off his back.

Banchor
1. Adams - terrific game. He looks huge out there and took some good marks but still has to get the panic disposal out of his game.
2. Jong - he could be an A grade midfielder if his disposals were better thought out. He needs to kick the goals when he gets the opportunity.

Anchors
1. Murphy injury. A few minutes before the end of the game just to rub it in.
2. No killer instinct. We had a team ripe for a belting and we let them off with a slap on the wrist.
3. The Bont's goal kicking. I thought he had zero flaws. I'm a little heartbroken.
