For all discussion about the 2017 Brownlow medal.

Dustin Martin is the clear favourite.

Can anyone challenge him?

He should win it but I wonder how many votes Danger gets? Oliver might be a good place bet

Does Jack Mac get the most votes for us?

Yeah Jack Macrae I reckon yep he will poll highly for us. Bonti is at $15 to win it but I just don't think Bont has played well enough this year but in saying that there will be games he will get the votes.

I think he took his mum last year so he probably owes his dad a night out.

Got $51 for Sloane and Crouch.

$21 for Kelly.

That was 5 minutes before the start. Bont was $51 as well. That was on the Tab which hadn't paid out on Dusty.

Jordan Roughead is involved with the youth homelessness charity and Darcy is the young person he mentors. This is the first time young Darcy has worn a suit. What an experience for him! We should be exceptionally proud of the character of Jordan. A really special person.

Is there anyone with more career Brownlow votes at Bont's age? Because I am a nerd, I checked out how he compares to Judd. He needs 20 votes tonight to equal Judd after 4 seasons (Judd was a few months older).

Horrible and cheesy coverage, I struggle with the concept of this format appealing to anyone.

Why did he need to sneak up behind him twice in the last few rounds knowing how awkward it was going to be? Why? It was like a pantomime or something, and would have been weird even if the target was a seasoned media performer.

Sedat
26-09-2017, 12:49 AM
Bruce is cooked - stick a fork in him. But having Daisy Pearce as his sidekick was cringeworthy. She is an awful media talent - awkward, stilted and cannot finish a sentence without tripping over her words.

The AFL have lamentably been last to the female sports party, disgustingly trying to poach established players from other codes in the process, and are now trying to shove everyone down our throats. Daisy Pearce, Erin Phillips and co are sportspeople, not media performers. Have a look at the women commentating on Rugby League - they are naturals in front of the camera precisely because they are from the media.

I haven't watched the Brownlow for about 20 years I found it boring , full of ads, drawn out and all about what the women are wearing.
Also the Bruce " I will love anyone who wins " Macavaney syndrome.
He is the most embarrassing person on tv.
I am betting he mentioned Carey and Rioli at some stage and if Ling was on it he would have kept reminding Bruce how good his call was.
My god it's one horrid tv spectacle nowadays, self loathing rubbish I really feel sorry for the players who have to put up with Bruce and his spying on tables trying to find some inane trivia.
Next year he will probably focus on a player and describe what he is eating, how many chews and the calories consumed.
Then follow him back to the bedroom filming him sleeping.

Interesting that Macrae only polled 8 votes........but when I check it against the Woof votes, I notice that many games where we awarded Jack top votes, no bulldogs players polled Brownlow votes. These were typically games we lost comfortably. I suspect the B&F will be a different story.

When we win it's usually because the Bont has played well... Jack doesn't have the same affect on games, but few do.

It's a skill. I can look people in the face and say the most appalling things and get away with them. You start with "it's just a question" or by displaying an interest in things people like and asking questions they appreciate and continuing with more and more pertinent questions about their pet topic until you trot out the (rudish) question. But, hey, it's just a question, its neutral, questions aren't good or evil in themselves.
If they don't kill you at that point then you've got them.

When people help me out at work I finish with "thank you so much I don't care what others say about you your ok" the reaction of "what do they say" and look of puzzlement Is gold, it sometimes gives away they have been caught doing something and are worried about it or they thought they were popular but aren't sure now.

I say that all the time at work - in fact it's a bit of a double barrel comment because my work is such a gossip factory.

People know that you are being tongue in cheek, but they also know that they're being discussed by someone, somewhere.
